I joined this site a few weeks ago. I love reading everyone's success stories and couldn't think of one right off the top of my head. Yesterday I was thinking how I really wished I had a recent success story to share. So I guess this can be title "two success stories".

Today I was driving to work, totally distracted, when I noticed a motorcycle officer with a radar gun. At that point I knew I was getting pulled over. He truly was the most pleasant police officer I have ever encountered. Needless to say I received my first speeding ticket in 10 years.

As I leave the area where I got pulled over, I kept thinking how grateful I am that I didn't get pulled over for a seatbelt violation (I always wear mine), or texting (try not to, but you know how it goes) or anything else that could have cost a lot of money. Not shortly after I arrive to work, a friend of mine calls to ask me what happened. I text him earlier to let him know I got pulled over by one of his buddies and how nice he was. My friend has said OVER & OVER he would never forgive a ticket so, out of respect, I didn't dream of asking him. Immediately he told me he took care of it and I don't have to worry about it.
I am grateful for what took place. My finances aren't the best. To have my insurance premium increase, pay a ticket which would be between $200-$300, and traffic school would have set me back more so than I already am. I had a choice. I could have focused on the negative be grateful for what I listed above.
That is an example of having an attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for what you have in your life. When something happens that is perceived as bad, try to find a way to be grateful for whatever you possibly can.
