I've been browsing this forum for about a month and I decided to join today in order to learn more about the law of attraction and hopefully learn how to use it. Right now I'm in a kind of learning phase where I'm trying to learn how to use the law of attraction, so I haven't really manifested anything yet. But I find the movie and book "The Secret" so convincing that I don't have any doubt at all that the law of attraction is true.

I find some elements of the law of attraction hard to understand though, and I would appreciate it if someone could share their point of views to my question:

If the law of attraction really gives you whatever you want, how come some of the teachers from The Secret use glasses(Bob Proctor, Neale D. Walsh and Fred A. Wolff)? If they really know how to use the secret it should be easy for them to attract better eyesight. I also noticed that Joe Vitale is slightly overweight and almost bald, while James A. Ray recently was found guilty for negligent homicide and may go to prison for 11 years... I don't think either of them really wanted this to happen, so my question is if the law of attraction really is as true as they say..?

I also have some other questions but I'll rather discuss this question first. I want to stress that I don't want to criticize the law of attraction in any way. I'm sure there are logical answers and i have 100 % faith that the law of attraction works. I just want to discuss in order to understand the law of attraction better.

I love your post!  It indicates you are serious about this stuff.  So am I.

First of all - I am also in the learning stage.  I have been a student of LoA for a little over a year, and I have had tremendous results to date.  I have been fortunate enough to find some master instructors.

I also know that not everyone who preaches how to apply LoA is proficient in doing so themselves.  This may or may not apply to the people in the Secret.  I certainly do not attempt to reach it to anyone yet, although I have started throwing my two cents worh onto some forums.

I cannot speak to those individual cases.  I will have to research and verify them first - as I have been taught. I can tell you though that even the people in the movie the Secret are still working on learning LoA.  They seem to be better at it than we are, but they are still developing the skill.  No one is perfect.  If negativity has shown up in their lives then they have created it.  There could be many reasons for it, but they have done it.  Even the people I am learning from consider themselves perpetual students.

I can also say that I have been taught that LoA works best when you focus on one thing at a time.  If it is your health, it is your health.  If it is relationships, then it is relationships.  If it is wealth, then it is wealth, etc.

I currently have goals I am working on that are a far greater priority for me than wearing glasses.

Thanks a lot for your answer, TRS! And YES, I am very serious about this stuff  I think that all the success i achieve in the future will have its roots in me using LoA.

You have some good points. Nobody is perfect and nobody can live an entirely positive life without anything negative happening to them. I think this is maybe a bit suppressed in the movie. I think they have an angle that says "Use the LoA and live a complete perfect life where you can have everything you want without anything negative happening to you - it's perfect, perfect, perfect without any kind of flaws". I don't think this is 100 % credible, but on the other side it isn't important either. The main important thing is that LoA works and that it will enrichen your life no matter what.

Here are some other questions i wonder about:

1. If the whole bottom line to LoA is about feeling good to manifest what you want, then how come people who seem angry and dissatisfied achieve success? Take for instance Hitler. I saw the movie "The Downfall" and he seemed like a very angry and aggresive man who had a lot of negative emotions going on. Still he manifested a whole lot of what he wanted in life. I've alco noticed that a lot of successfull businessmen that are wealthy really aren't postive or happy at all. How can they manifest so much if they don't master the whole essence to the law of attraction?

2. Sometimes in the past I've really expected something without getting it. This could be a grade, a girl and so on. I mean, I've really been in the state where I didn't have any doubt, was happy about it and felt 100 % certain that I would get what I expected. I really trusted the universe. According to LoA you will get what you want if you are in alignment with what you want, so how can it be that I've in these cases didn't get what I expected?

3. Let's say that two people are running for president. They both use the LoA and are really good at it. They both want to be president so they ask, believe, recieve and/or think, feel and act(the creation process). They also visualize and are extremely grateful people. No matter what, only one of them can get to be president, although they both use LoA "perfectly". The man who loses the election shouldn't, according to LoA, get anything else than what he wanted, so after all we could say that LoA didn't work in this case? In the movie they say that there is enough resources etc. to go around for everyone on the planet. But is this really true when there can only be one president of the United States next election, one olympic gold medal winner in 100 m sprint in London 2012 and so on. I think that in a world where everyone used the LoA, there would be shortage of some things like this.

I'll try to answer all your questions to the best of my knowledge. My answers are in red

It all depends on what one wants to attract in life. Its not what the third person thinks. Its just what the person himsel/herself thinks. Firstly, I dont think one can verify LOA from a third person perspective. That is, I cannot verify LOA based on someone else's experiences. I can only verify based on mine. Its simply because we'll never know fully what's going on in someone else's mind, no matter how close we are to them, or how well we claim to understand them. Sometimes its even difficult to fully understand what's going on in one's own mind, let alone anothers'! In short we have no clue whether the teachers you have mentioned want to live without glasses or not. They may not think its a problem at all! My own brother likes wearing glasses though he doesnt have any problem with the eyesight. It just comes down to personal preferences. Its like asking why cant all short people grow tall using LOA. The answer is, they can but may be they dont want. May be they are happy the way they are and dont want to change anything

Joe Vitale may not think being overweight is bad. May be he likes to have a shaven head. Or he may just not be bothered about that at all. You never know! In case of James A. Ray, again, we do not know what he was thinking when he committed the crime. Its obvious that he was in negative vibration, but we do not know why. Thats why I say you cannot verify LOA based on others' experiences because we'll never know what exactly is their vibration pattern

What exactly do you mean by success? Hitler wanted to be an artiste but his paintings were rejected always. He could never get his art works to display in public. He never managed to fulfill his passion. He wanted to win in the world war but he lost. He could never be with the woman he loved. He committed suicide. Today, his name has a strong negative connotation. Is this success? Same goes to the rich and grumpy businessmen. They may be rich and famous. But they may be lacking in something that they badly crave for. Being famous (or infamous) and being successful are not same!

In my school I and another boy from my class (along with a few others) contested for Student Union elections. There was just one position, that of student body secretary. I and the boy, both of us wanted to win the elections and both of us were absoultely positive about it. But as you said, only one could get the position. But miraculously at the last moment the principal decided that there will be two secretaries for our batch! And of course, we both won the elections and both of us got the position! Okay you may say this was just a school so the rules are easier to bend. I agree. But what I want to say is ANYTHING is possible. No one knew the teachers would change their minds at last moment. No one knows why they did that. But it happened because we believed we would win. In case of National President, one person may become the president and the other one may get a position which is very similar in the essence to that of a president. Or something that is even better. We may not be aware of all the million ways that exist. But irrespective of whether or not we know, the paths continue to exist. And each person will find the perfect path based on their desires and vibration

I am still learning, and don't have all the answers, but here is what I think based on what I've learned so far:

1)  Fear, anger, and stress are all strong emotions.  Strong emotions lead to creation.  That is how you attract things you don't want.  The goal is to have strong positive emotions so that you attract positive things.

I also believe that the definition of evil is someone who feels good about bad things happening to others, and therefore manifests them.  This is how Hitler and serial killers, etc, can accomplish such evil deeds.  Inevitably the stress of being caught / defeated overpowers them, and they attract that instead.

There are several business men who appear to be grumpy, mad, etc, but on the inside they actually feel great.  It is a persona the project.

2) This would take some discussion and introspection as it is very specific.  If you are speaking of attracting a specific girl, then that is tricky.  If it didn't manifest then you were doing something incorrect.

3) Yes, there are a few zero sum games.  May the more skilled group win.  (Presidential candidates have grooups behind them)  Your example is an ideal situation though.  We have all competed in contests where we did not truly believe we would win, but we still tried out best.

If they are both very skilled they will both get what they truly want - power, wealth, and prestige, even if the do not get the actual office.

Just out of curiosity, who decides who is more skilled? There are many instances where not-so-skilled people have won over the more-skilled. So I think it all comes down to whose faith is stronger and energy higher. If all the competitors are equally strong in their faith (not necessarily in skills too) all of them will get the essence of the victory they are asking for. That essence may manifest in different forms to different contestants. But the essence remains. Just my opinion

Hello again! Sorry for the late answer!! Anyways, thanks for your posts guys


1. When I say success I mean that people manifest what they want. A business man may not be successful in life in general although he has a lot of money, but he has achieved success financially. And to manifest a large amount of money or conquer Europe (according to LoA) you have to have the right strong positive thoughts and feelings. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a slight doubt that some grumpy business men and Hitler had entirely positive emotions. But I take your point. No third person can with 100 % certainty tell if a person has positive emotions or not. My faith in LoA is so strong that I believe you

2. Again I think you're right. If I didn't manifest it, I did something wrong. If I don't get what i want, it always my fault! But angel_star, what exactly do you mean by letting go? I haven't put the LoA into use that much so I've not been aware of what letting go means. I searched the forum and found out that it is about letting go of all worries, fear and have 100 % of faith in your wish. Firstly, in my examples I thought i did "let go" because I believed in what i wanted and didn't worry about it. But then again, I probably didn't after all as it didn't manifest.

3. I agree with you on this one too. Your answers seems logical and logical answers was what I was looking for I guess my questions just were some stickys I had with LoA. I think I now understand the whole concept better

First off I just wanted to say what a great post. I, too, get lost in the ideals and seeming perfection of the law of attraction teachings. I have spent literally hundreds of hours studying manifesting and I find that there are so many differing beliefs, and so many different strategies that it is easy to get lost and confused.

When I first started implementing the ideas behind deliberately creating my life, I often felt confused and frustrated by the exact same kinds of questions that you are asking (especially the hardships the experts still go through).

I almost gave up completely in anything related to the law of attraction. I truly questioned the validity of such beliefs. Then I came across "Ask and It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks who are huge proponents of the always do what "feels good" ideal.

Since I began consciously trying to feel good whenever I could, life has changed drastically for me. I think when it comes to the law of attraction humankind is just scratching the surface. There is still so much we don't know, so much we haven't yet answered.

We must always remember that we are human, we will make mistakes, we will manifest that which we do not want at times in our life. However, the more positive we remain, the better things begin to go.

Follow your passion and your bliss was the single most life changing advice I ever implemented. I'm still trying to figure out the specifics of manifesting, but for now choosing to deliberately and consciously feel good, while pursuing my passion is working out just fine.   

Try not to get lost in the semantics or questions that are too big for our human brains to comprehend. Living a deliberate life is worth it. I believe we possess powers of which we are not even aware, and pursuing them is a wonderful way to live.

The more people like you, who are trying to create the life of their dreams, the closer we will get to the big answers. Stick with it, it's worth the effort for sure.

Yeah, it's very easy to get lost and confused... I feel like I'm kind of in that path as we speak. I want it so bad and try so hard, but I still struggle to put LoA to use. My main problem is that I let negative things affect me to easy, and because of that I don't feel good all the time. And when I don't feel good I get bad conscience and feel guilty because I KNOW it's wrong! It's very frustrating but at least I'll never give up I've promised myself to continue to work on LoA untill I master it

This thread helped me figure out that we haven't discovered too much about LoA to ask all questions about it already. It would be like criticizing aircraft in 1900. I should rather focus on learning what we already know about LoA and don't doubt any aspect of it

Dear Studenes, Letting go means to let go of attachment to your desire, not being dependent on it for your happiness. Its a state where you are perfectly happy even without what you desire. In that state there is no 'wanting' or 'need'. When I say you should be happy even without what you desire, I don't mean you give up or you don't care about it. Its just that you should not rely on it for your well-being. You are right that letting go means letting go of worries and other negative feelings. But in my experience, just not worrying is not enough. What works best for me is setting my intention with faith, affirming that I am my desire itself (please check the thread 'Become your desire' to understand this better), and totally forgetting about the desire by distracting myself with other stuff. When I set and forget, I manifest very fast. But again, this is just how it works with me. Different people have different ways of letting go. 'Set it and Forget it' is my way Hope this helps.
