Hey people! Here is my take on detachment, particularly pertaining to relationships. I will try my best to keep it precise, understandable and practically applicable. Feel free to discuss it further here or PM if need be
To understand what detachment IS, first it is important to understand what detachment ISN’T. Detachment IS NOT giving up, saying ‘I am tired and I don’t care anymore now’ or saying ‘I guess it was never meant to be’. These are not letting go of resistance. These are letting go of the DESIRE ITSELF! Such an attitude will keep your boyfriend/girlfriend even away from you. Detachment is not a state of ‘no desire’ its just a state of ‘no resistance’
So its important to see that detachment doesn’t mean ‘not desiring’ it rather means ‘not worrying or doubting or controlling’. Detachment is a state of being. It’s a state where you do not ‘need’ him/her to complete you. It’s a state of feeling whole by yourself. A state of absolute independence. By ‘independence’ I mean not depending on him/her for your happiness, joy, peace, etc. This takes us to an important question: Is it bad to be interdependent in a relationship by showing care and affection? Of course, its not bad to feel affectionate about someone. Give and take of affection and care are essential to any relationship. But its important to differentiate between affection and attachment. Most people tend to get confused between what they think is affection, but which in reality is attachment. You like another person, care about him/her, feel happy for their successes, etc-this is affection. You get absolutely tensed up when he/she, for whatever reasons, do not talk properly to you once, you feel absolutely powerless without them in your life, you need them to make you happy and you cannot be happy by yourself-this is attachment. The problem is, on the surface, attachment looks like affection. For instance, if you say ‘I love him/her so much that I would not survive without him/her’ it seems like love and affection alright, but if you really mean ‘you cannot survive without him/her’, then you are highly dependent on him/her for your well-being and hence, you are attached.
So how do you let go of that attachment or need? By loving yourself totally, accepting yourself and respecting yourself completely. And most importantly, taking up responsibility for your own feelings and not resting that power in the other person’s hand. This is actually already known. But there is a common mistake people tend to do in this phase. It is this: They love, respect and accept themselves ‘in order to’ attract the other person! So this self-love, self-respect and self-acceptance which are meant to make you feel good turn into efforts for attracting that person. When you do this in order to gain that relationship, in essence you are saying that ‘I do not have that relationship still. So I am going to love myself totally so that I can attract my love’. By doing this, you are focusing on ‘not having the relationship yet’. So you’ll end up attracting more of ‘not having that relationship yet’! If you love yourself as an effort to attract love back, then you haven’t let go at all. True detachment happens when you love yourself because you recognize your worth, because you truly respect yourself, because you feel and know that you are special and unique. You do not love yourself with an agenda to attract someone, you love yourself just because you love yourself! To fall in love with yourself, start appreciating everything about you: your eyes, nose, hair, body, your ability to talk well, your ability to help others, the way you make your friends smile…it could be anything. Make a list of all the things you love about yourself that make you proud of yourself. Gradually you’ll find so many things to appreciate about yourself and you’ll be amazed at how special you are. That’s when you won’t ‘need’ anyone else to complete you!
Now that was the first part of detachment, where you become happy even without your boyfriend/girlfriend in your life. There is another part, which is letting go of worrying, over analyzing, doubting or trying to control the manifestation. This happens to most of us and can seem quite difficult to overcome. But it isn’t that difficult in reality. In most cases, when you think about someone just randomly for a while and forget it, chances are more that you bump into that person in a short while. But you think about your lover for over days and weeks, and they seem nowhere around you. The reason is simple, when you thought about that random person, you were not worried about seeing them or not. You did not feel anxious or impatient to see them. You just forgot about them and they appeared in front of you. In case of your lover, you kept thinking about him/her over and over again. When you think with feelings even just once, your desire gets registered. But when you think over and over again, slowly anxiety, impatience, doubt and worry seep in. This blocks your way to manifest. So the best way is to forget about the desire once it is set. Your desire gets registered with the Universe when you set it even once, and by not over-thinking it, you are not even blocking its way.
Now comes the most asked question: I cannot stop thinking about him/her. How can I stop? The answer is simple again: You don’t have to ‘stop’ thinking about him/her. You just have to ‘start’ thinking about other things! Initially its a deliberate action of shifting thoughts, but with practice, it becomes automatic where you no longer think of him/her. You start focusing on other manifestations in your life and totally let go his/her need. That’s when he/she gets attracted back to you.
There is another commonly asked question: How is it possible to visualize/affirm and let go at the same time? By stopping visualizing/affirming am I ruining my manifestation? The answer is, it depends on what you are feeling while visualizing/affirming. If you are visualizing just because you feel happy while doing so and you don’t worry about the manifestation, then you are detached. But if you are feeling ‘By visualizing/affirming I am going to feel good. By feeling good I can supposedly attract him/her back’ then you are again operating from a place of attachment and lack. So you have to stop and shift your thoughts. By stopping visualizations you do not ruin your manifestation because even if you have visualized with feelings once, your desire is set to manifest. However, by visualizing/affirming over and over again from a place of lack, need and attachment, you do ruin your manifestation.
Here is the most important note: STOP WORRYING WHY HE/SHE DID NOT CONTACT YOU. WHEN THEY CONTACT YOU, DON’T ANALYZE WHY THEY SAID OR DID NOT SAY CERTAIN WORDS. WHEN YOU GET THEM BACK DON’T FEEL ANXIOUS THAT THEY MAY LEAVE YOU AGAIN. WHEN THEY ARE WITH YOU, DON’T THINK OF THEIR PAST ACTIONS AND GET FRUSTRATED. FORGIVE AND LOVE THEM COMPLETELY JUST LIKE YOU DO TO YOURSELF
Remember, detachment is not being cold, indifferent or uncaring. Detachment is filling yourself with so much peace and love that nothing affects your well being, and which also enables you to spread love and peace wherever you go.
PS. There is much more to discuss detachment. I would have loved to state some real life examples and explain. But the post is really long and can be tedious to read if it gets longer. So I hope we can all take it further from here and I can discuss in more detail

I can't remember where I got this from - I copied and pasted it into a word document along with other inspirational posts and passages. I think this is good information for everyone struggling with detachment, going with the flow, questioning if things are going right, etc.
Well, there are four important things to remember here. The first relates to what we are noticing in the world around us. Because our thoughts create our reality, when all we do is notice how we don’t have what we want or that it is taking a long time for what we want to appear, then all we are doing is creating more moments in our lives where we don’t have what we want. We keep thinking we don’t have the new house or new job, and so we don’t have them. The more we notice we don’t have something, the longer we will go without it. The longer we think it is taking for something to appear, the longer it will take to appear. If we think it has been four days since we asked for what we want and we still don’t have what we want, we just created four more days of not having what we want.
The second thing to remember is that every time we think that the Law of Attraction is not working and start to look for ways to make it work, any time we tell others that we need help manifesting something we can’t do it, any time we think that there is a step we must be missing, what we are actually doing is telling the Universe that we do not trust it to bring us what we want. We are trying to control the situation. We are trying to determine how something will manifest. That is not our job. That is the Universe’s job. All we are supposed to do is ask and then allow our desires to appear in our lives. That is it.
The third thing to remember is that what we want to attract really is not taking forever to appear in our lives. Sometimes there are factors involved in creating our desires that we are not aware of when we ask for them. These factors can prevent us from instantly receiving what we want. For example, if we desire a new car, we want more than a certain make and model. We also want it to run well, to be affordable, to have a great time purchasing it, and so forth. These elements also have to be created. And no matter how badly we want our car right now, however long it takes for everything to come together is exactly the right amount of time needed for us to attract our desire.
The fourth and final thing to remember is that whenever we feel nervous, anxious, impatient, or scared, we are pushing away the very thing we want. That is why it is so important to detach from the outcome. Detachment is about not caring whether we will get what we want. It is about being okay with things being exactly as they are now. When we are okay with never getting what we want, all resistance will be gone.
Most importantly, detachment is not about giving up. It is not about resigning ourselves to never having what we want. It is about accepting what is. It is about allowing ourselves to have what we want, allowing ourselves to experience the feeling of hope that we will get what we want, but still enjoying the process that takes us from where we are now to where we want to be. It is in this process that true enjoyment of our desires can be found. When we simultaneously enjoy what we have now and what we want to manifest as if we already have it, the sooner our desires will manifest. So, ultimately, we decide how long it will take for the Law of Attraction to work and however long it takes is exactly the right amount of time for us.

Before I continue, there are some pointers for you to take note.

Part 1: Understanding [Theoretical]
What is Schumann Resonance?
The Schumann resonances (SR) are a set of spectrum peaks in the extremely low frequency (ELF) portion of the Earth's electromagnetic field spectrum. Schumann resonances are global electromagnetic resonances, excited by lightning discharges in the cavity formed by the Earth's surface and the ionosphere. - Wikipedia.
Why is it useful or benefit Law of Attraction in manifesting desires?
Good question, but before I go on, the old theory still applies. Everything around you, is made out of matter and matter can be simplified as molecules and atoms. In Quantum Mechanics, atoms can be further simplified into energy. If this is true, well this is absolutely true, everything around us are made out of energy. Simply by bringing out to even a bigger picture, we are a vibrational living-energy. Law of Vibration - Nothing rest, everything moves, everything vibrates. This principle states that energies are always in vibration. You can't stop it, you can't avoid from it. What will happen when something vibrates, frequency actually occurs. Transverse wave or longitude doesn't matter - as long as they vibrate, they always emit frequency.
Let me paused for a moment and I will explain what is it. Let's say, you have two pens; a blue and a red pen. Now, both pens are made out atoms - energy. The reason why you can see it, is because of two things - the light, atoms and the frequency. Everyone knows the connection between light and sight, same goes for atoms. Now, this left only the frequency. Why is this specific pen is in blue, and the other is red when both of them are made out of same size and number of atoms except their colors? The answer is simple. Their color frequency is different. Frequency plays a huge role in our life. Without them, we cannot differentiate anything! It doesn't even exist in black and white color because black and white have their own frequencies. Especially white, it has 7 colors. So theoretically, if the blue frequency is about 631THz and red is in any other frequency, then I am correct to say: "Hey Johnny! Could you grab me a pen that vibrates at a frequency of 631THz?"
What am I showing? I am showing your specific desire! When you have a desire - in your thoughts, there are frequencies; to be exact, there is actually a certain frequency. Certain frequencies will affect your mood and mental thinking. Just like for example, when a person passed away, people wear black, white clothes and light white candles at his/her's funeral. Your mind will infer someone has passed away and everyone is paying respect. What if suddenly, a person wore a red clothe, came into the funeral, laughing and half-drunk, your perception will change immediately! His laughing sound emits - Soundwave; longitudinal wave, vibrated into your ear and perceived. Red clothe; transverse wave, vibrated into your eyes and perceived. You see? You understand! Now, here's the important part. He was affecting everyone's mood, everyone's mentality towards him, thus actually induced a frequency that he was there, clearly stated, he was making a nuisance!
Is frequency powerful? Indeed it is! Now, let me get back to Schumann Resonance.
Schumann Resonance states that the Earth/Nature is vibrating at a frequency of 7.83Hz. Law of Attraction states that whatever your thoughts proceed to the Universe, it will give you what you desire; like thoughts attracts like. What if, your mind; brain, right now, is at the level of Beta - Fully awake, reading my thread? Let's say your brain right now is vibrating at 23Hz. Do you think the nature is receiving what you desire when their frequency is as low as 7.83Hz and yours at 23Hz? Let me give you another example, wow I just realized I gave a lot examples. Prayers - Why do you think traditional prayers are practiced through silence and solemn? Why not a rock party with a heavy metal album being played behind? The answer is simple. Those people who prayed, let their mind settled down and got to theta(4-7cycles) or alpha(8-13cycles), closed to 7.83Hz. And there's no mistake why some of them, have their desires manifested. Tuning with the nature is vital if you want the nature to help you. If you kept visualizing at the wrong frequency, how the earth is gonna receive your callings? It's just like asking a medical doctor to fix your computer.
Now, I want to congratulate you, you have been enduring my poorly constructed sentences but you have understood why it is necessary to use frequency for manifestation. We will be using the method of Schumann Resonance to tune in to the correct receiver, and full charge your on your desire and change your physical reality. Sound interesting, right?
Take a break for awhile. Go and do some research for Schumann Resonance and see how it corresponds to Earth.
P.S: Why is it Alpha and Theta? Schumann Resonance has it at 7.83Hz. However, due to global warming, temperature rising, cosmic factors and other geographical and scientific factors, the frequency has thus increased dramatically to around 11Hz and 13Hz. We, Law of Attraction practitioners, do not need to cover the loss of accuracy. We are not scientist and we can't keep up with the rapid changes. Faith - Is our only measurement to success. 7.83Hz is where I have faithed on. You guys may want to have the frequency up to 11 or 13Hz. I am just gonna stick with 7.83Hz.
Part 2 - Instructions [Practical]
1. Lay down on a bed or sit in a chair in a relaxing manner with your legs and arms uncrossed.
2. Listen or meditate yourself until you are at the rate of Schumann Resonance*.
3. Mentally, create a 'special' place, the place where you want to your ideal mate to appear. Imagine as laser sharp as possible, 3D.
4. Now, when you are ready and prepare, summon your ideal mate. Imagine as laser sharp as possible, 3D.
5. The more intense the visualization, the frequency between you and ideal mate is stronger.
6. Bring your ideal mate and have fun with him or her as long as you want.
7. When you are ready to go off, just visualize the final happiness and desired outcome of what you want then slowly fade away the image.
*Regarding about Part 2, how do I know if I have reached to 7.83Hz? If you are using Brainwave Entrainment Technology, about 5 minutes of listening, when your thoughts start to dull, that's the time where you have reached Schumann Resonance. Some people claimed that they have received huge and strong energy when they have reached to that state.
Done. =) You have completed. This requires practice. You can perform Schumann Resonance either when you awake or going to sleep. The key here is full mental power for visualization. If you feel at night, you have a better mental power than morning, then do it at night. Important additional keys for you to take note:
- Discipline: Regularity is important. Practice at least once in every 2 days.
- Emotions: IMPORTANT! You can create emotions during your visualization to fuel your desire but please do control if you are producing mental sexual images. If you are sexuality excited, your pulse will start to quicken and your heart pounding will become faster - You will reached back to your beta state and will no longer resonance with the method. If you are worried, then don't give too many emotions - clinical.
You are all done with Schumann Resonance Method. And I have nothing to add. If you need a brainwave entrainment audio for it, I might be able to make one or you can simply get free downloads from the internet. Now is the time to ask yourself, what are the things that you do want in your life? It is the time for you to move towards pleasure rather than away from pain. The more you think of moving away from what makes you feel bad, the more you get people, situations, and events in your life that will make things even worse for you.
The Law of Attraction is Always at Work
Whether we are aware of it or not, the Law of Attraction is at work everyday of our lives. Just like the Law of Gravity, it is always present and is one of the fundamental laws of the universe. Now in order for you to use it to your own advantage, you must be aware of your thoughts and beliefs because the Law of Attraction states that you have or become what you think about most of the time.
The more we worry or think of things that worry us, the uglier our experiences become. Get rid of negative thoughts and emotions. Instead, think of the things that make you happy. Think of your desire. Imagine the things that you will be able to do and the life you are going to live once your desire is fulfilled. Thinking of your desire must make you feel good – if you don’t there is doubt in your mind that you have the ability to manifest it into your reality.
To have only what you really want in your life, you must eliminate negative thoughts and emotions. Eliminate negative thoughts by simply moving towards pleasure rather than wanting to move away from pain or situations that will make you upset. I know that it cannot be done overnight, but it will become easy as soon as you get the hang of it.
Dream, Believe, Manifest
Exercise your innate ability to manifest your desires at will. Of course, every desire starts with a dream or a thought. Then you start imagining your life as if your desire has already been fulfilled. How much you believe that your desire will come to you defines how fast you are going to get it. If for example you are having doubts, the chance that your desire is going to manifest into your reality is little to none.
Most people think of wanting to have that which they want to have. But as far as the Law of Attraction is concerned, this will only bring more wanting into their lives. What you must do is to think as if your desire has already been fulfilled, and that you are already enjoying it. This way, the universe can’t help but to give you your desire.
Ask for what you want and you shall receive. Remember that the universe provides, and that the Law of Attraction is always at work.

For those of you who don't know my story: 4 Year relationship; 3months no contact; 2 months texting contact.
Last time I questioned Shankar's motives because we had been texting constantly and then I didnt hear from him for a whole weekend and panicked; over-analysed etc.
After beginning the constant texting again he randomly stopped for, its been 3 days now. Guess what? Im fine. I cant believe how I'm feeling. I'm just not bothered.
I made the decision to let go- really let go BECAUSE I dont want to feel the pain of attachment anymore. I trust the Universe and I know he's on his way back. I guess this is what they mean when they say you have to have faith- because letting go is the scariest part, it does feel like your forgetting about your initial goal.
But that's the point.
This is a gradual process now, no-one can let go overnight, but I feel a lot stronger and I'm more conscious about my thinking, and controlling negative thoughts.
Now that the Universe is sorting it all out gives me time to focus on my weight issues (since losing a lot since the break up) I'm done with the affirmations and ways to manifest him back- I'm going to put all my efforts in to me. And I'm happy, as if he's already here.
I wrote him a letter that I read to the Universe on 11/11/11 Thanking him for everything, telling him I forgive him for all the hurt, apologizing for the hurt I caused him and stating that I love him. Then I burnt the letter.
Something I've noticed is most of us know letting go is the key but we always ask the people who manifest love back 'how?' I think I know.
When learning letting go was the key, i thought I was doing it but I was still affirming, visualizing, practicing RS etc. I believe you need to go through a 'process' and it has to happen. It can't be rushed. You just can't expect to 'let go' off the bat, you have to get to the place on your own.
I thought I had let go that's why I initiated contact (I was given signs by the Universe) so I expected it to go my way and it didnt. I always used to question why the Universe inspired me to text him when he clearly didnt fall down on his knees but later on in the month he confessed his mum was extremely ill. I am really grateful I got back into his life at this point, to be there for him when I can. Amazing really.
So dont force yourself to let go because that wont happen. It wont be pure. I began affirming that I am secure and confident and worthy. My faith has built so letting go for me is easier now. Do what you need to do, affirm, visualize, practice other methods of grabbing your exes attention subconsciously- even the successors went through this. There will come a point where you will realize you dont need to do it anymore and you can just stop and let the Universe bring them back.
For me, letting go happened when I affirmed about ME, solely about me and nothing about him. Focus on You and the letting go will happen.
