As some of you may have picked up, I'm a big fan of the Frank Kinslow books.

Until recently, he hasn't really written much about manifestation. He's more about re-aligning with your true self, which involves identifying with a state of pure awareness which is not influenced by external circumstances. So, for example, if you feel joy because you have found love or got a great job or a new house or whatever - all well and good, but these are transient emotions and not linked to your true self. If you say that joy comes from a new job, then it can be taken away again if you lose that job, for example. Instead, he guides you through meditative practices which show you your core emotional state when it is not affected by external circumstances. And the big surprise and delight to me was to find out that this is always something positive. Not just for me, for everyone.

In his latest book, he goes a bit further and says that the state of pure awareness is the seat of manifestation. So, you clear your mind of all external influences, and from that connection with source (effectively) everything is manifested.

So, now I'm wondering about gratitude. For me, gratitude has been extremely effective - not just in terms of manifestation, but in terms of elevating my overall sense of well-being. But it is clearly a conditional emotion, not linked to Pure Awareness as Frank (Kinslow) would say. So... How much of a role should it play, if at all? Is the ultimate goal to enter into pure awareness and not care about external manifestation at all (which begs the question of, why even have a physical existence - but I think that's a question to which the answer is usually, "the physical mind cannot understand it")

Just interested in your general thoughts really :)

On one level I agree with this, and think it's a great little summary. And then on another.... A lot of spiritual traditions (for which I am gaining increasing respect) say that happiness is not attained by trying to change things, but by accepting things are perfect exactly as they are. We're always chasing after this or that, thinking we'll find happiness at the end of the rainbow - but the real secret is to find peace from within.

I read brilliant quote today, by Karl Renz. It was something like, "the idea that you can avoid suffering by acting one way rather than another creates a lot of suffering". That just rang so true for me, and was very soothing.

However, there's a big long journey between a seemingly bland meaningless statement such as I have just spat out, and the realisation of it. I'm still working at it (egads!) but the truth of it seems undeniable. As long as you are seeking, you are not enjoying what is. Life is both the journey and the destination (and all those other spiritual platitudes ;) )

Preparing For What You Want
In general, I would say that it is an excellent thing to study abroad. I did this, and ended up moving to the country!

It might help to understand where your fears are coming from. Are they are 'limiting belief' type fear, or more of an intuitive fear?

The only thing that gave me pause, as an outsider, was the reference to Northern Cyprus. Is that the Greek Cypriot side, or the Turkish Cypriot side? I've had lovely times on the Greek Cypriot side, but I'm less sure about the Turkish side, and it sounds like the conflict may still be alive there, and may be a bit militarised.

Not wanting to be negative at all - just, in case there was an element of intuition there...
Dear friends. I got a chance to go abroad for studies. but suddenly i got a panic attack and i feel terrible now. i don't know this decision is a correct one. i'm so frustrated coz i spent  quiet a lot money to get this chance.  What happens if this decision is a wrong one. i need your help. Please help me.

p.s
i know if i can make my mind everything will be alright. please help to make my mind.

thanks

I can see that you really want to go there. You're just feeling a little bit uncomfortable since it's not an everyday activity of yours and you have these 'Unknown fears' crawling in your mind. All you have to do is to focus on what you really want then forget your fears. Life is wonderful, don't let opportunities pass by, and remember that Life begins at the end of your comfort zone :) Keep moving forward!!!!
By the way, it's really good achievement of you to recognise that these feelings and thoughts you're having don't sit well with the higher part of you. Because the greater part of you already knows you can go and be TOTALLY fine. These feelings of scared aren't your enemy, they're just part of you to get to know better and have a chat with :)

hello! well it's OK to be scared a bit...big new thing and all that. Take some deep breaths. Other people have been where you are...going abroad for studies. maybe you could talk to some of them? It can help to talk with other people and see that it can be done and can be fun!

Also, try writing a list (here even) of what are the exciting things you're looking forward to doing and seeing...
Actually, what ARE the good things?
And where are you going to?

ALSO, i don't usually advocate focusing on negative things...but when you are panicking it can help to identify the actual source of panic. For example, are there specific things you're concerned about?

Make a list. E.g.

I'm scared I'll hate it and will be stuck there
I'm scared I won't know the language
I'm scared the teachers will be mean

THEN, you can start putting some solutions in place, like

I'm scared I'll hate it and will be stuck there - solution: Have a return ticket which I KNOW I can use anytime if I really don't like it!
I'm scared I won't know the language: Solution: take language classes of an evening & arrange to meet up with a langauge class when I get there
I'm scared the teachers will be mean - solution: email and call the teachers on the phone and have a chat beforehand, introduce myself and get to know them a little bit.

Also add in things like, contact the uni or school and find out about the support programs and activities they have for international students and also do a google search for info and advice for students taking time to study abroad.

Actually working out WHAT you're worried about helps you break it down into little, manageable chunks and KNOW you have support back home and also where you're going. My suggestion about having a return ticket you can use anytime could really help too - like a panic button that you can hit anytime and know you get to get out safely - and talk to the people back home and explain 'I wanna do this bit I'm a bit freaked out so I'm setting it up so if I want to come home early, I can - and if I do I ask for your love and support and help'. And you can also, as Abraham says - when you know what you don't want - you know what you DO want. So then you can start visualising lovely teachers, great classes, fun and friends etc! :)

It sounds like a great opportunity! Just create a great emotional grid around it and you'll be fine!

;)

And remember to BREATHE. Just long, slow deeeep breaths. Meditate and listen to soothing music :) And please do tell us where you're going and why it's such a great opportunity for you - what really makes your heart SING about it?? :)
