Yesterday I was chatting with my friend who recently went through a very traumatic breakup with the father of her child. During a conversation she made a comment that she would feel better about being sad if she felt he were sad as well. What struck me about that statement is that she was basing the appropriateness of her feelings on someone who clearly cannot hold a candle to her. It got me thinking how often that we as individuals seek validation and approval not from people who love and support us and are our cheerleaders but rather people who do not value or honor us. Why is it easier to believe the bad stuff people say? Why does that one negative comment out of a hundred good ones haunt us? Well I am here to say that you are magnificent and I hope this script helps you to block out those people who believe you are anything less than that!
