Need help: Real life a dream, dream life a nightmare...
« on: February 18, 2011, 01:34:24 PM »
Hello everyone!

I have a problem that's been bothering me for a while. I'm still kinda new to the LOA, but I must be using it well because my life has truly become absolutely beautiful and fulfilling! Everything is going well, everything that happens is great and I am always grateful for everything that I have and that I receive. I use the LOA with a journal. In it, I write all of my dreams and wishes, and I also write pages and pages everyday about everything that I am grateful for and I also describe how exactly I want my wishes to look like. Obviously, my 'reality' isn't a problem.

The problem, is that ever since I've started using the LOA seriously I have horrible nightmares EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I've been kidnapped, chased, beaten, screamed at, threatened, trapped, locked up, tied up and a lot more horrible things that I don't even want to talk about! Luckily, these things are only happening in my dreams. What the heck is going on? O.O I never used to have nightmares before! Or at least very rarely and I didn't even really remember them after waking up! I could write a book about the ones I'm having now! O.O

I am assuming that something inside me is desperately trying to oppose the LOA and make me stop using it by any means necessary, but I don't understand why??? I've tried spending time alone meditating and asking my mind why it's making me have nightmares, I've tried wishing for pleasant dreams, etc. You should know that I do not come from an abusive family at all! I'm an only child and my parents have been nothing but loving and caring for my entire life, and I've also never had any kind of abusive relationship with anyone. I've never even been grounded! In other words, this really does feel like an internal conflict. I'm starting to get scared when I go to bed... O.O

Can someone please offer some advice? T.T

Thank you.

I think when you start to use the loa - it opens up your imaginiation and unconscious etc. I too have rememebered more of my dreams since using loa.

I think they are probably trying to tell you something and the dramatic nature is a way of getting your attention. I would try before you go to bed - to say - ok - I'm listening to my subconcscious - I'm alert so let me know what it is your saying but you could be less dramatic about it.

Hey same thing has been happening to me lately, especially since I became absolutely positive in my waking hours. I feel that even though I consciously try to be positive all the time, the beliefs in my subconscious mind have still not changed fully. So they are manifesting as dreams when I sleep (since during sleep the conscious mind is at rest but the subconscious is fully active). I dont know what exactly is happening with you but in my case the dreams indicate my fears, worries, doubts or limiting beliefs to me. Its like a warning for me to go deep into myself and change my beliefs. For instance, earlier I used to hold grudges against people for long times. After learning about LOA, I started letting the grudges go. However I continued getting dreams invoving people I hate. They were insulting me or I was tormenting them in the dreams. Later I realized that even though on the surface I had forgiven them and myself, I was still feeling bad deep within. So I made a point to let go of the anger completely and accept them fully. I have succeeded to some extent. I still get dreams that are terrifying, but in my case they are only my own limiting beliefs. Once I work on them, such dreams disappear!

I think angel_star is absolutely correct. In fact I got a terribly horible dream about my exam and was thinking about posting it here to get some advice. But see..within a day I got this post and finally got to know the reason behing all these. The universe actually responds. Have faith.

Nips is right. It is very necessary to have faith. As for getting terrible dreams, I have a major improvement and it has showed to me that once I let go of resentment from my subcoscious, my dreams also become totally calm. My main problem was this. I had a very close childhood friend who betrayed me a few years back, spoke ill of me with everyone that mattered and insulted me a lot. I was devastated. Later I learnt about LOA and I had decided to forgive her completely and move on. On the surface, I really thought I had totally forgiven her. But I started getting terrible dreams involving me and her. We were insulting each other, torturing each other in my dreams. I was really confused. Then I realized what was happening. The thing is, though I had forgiven on the surface, deep inside I was still angry about her. By not working on it on a deeper level, all the resentment was swept into my subconscious and it had started playing out as my dreams. So I made it a point to meditate and forgive both her and myself for whatever happened. After I did that, I felt very very calm and happy. And a miracle happened! Within a week after doing this, she came back to me! She apologized to me for whatever bad she had said and done to me, she cried like a baby and asked me to forgive her! I said I wholeheartedly forgive her and now we are back to being the thickest friends that we were. And those terrible dreams have totally stopped :)

Absolutely true. I've had some pretty terrible dreams in the recent past, they're still yet to quiet down. Pretty bad ones about losing my job, my house, winding up on the streets etc. However, during my waking moments I'm absolutely fine.
Don't fight the subconscious, it doesn't help. Persuade it to accept your positive moods and thoughts. I notice that this happens only when the mind is calm and free of emotion.
