Can any one pls explain what does this really mean. After putting a request to the universe and saying my affirmations and visualisations i am suppose to let it go right? Does that mean i should stop my affirmation and visualisztios or can i cont

Hey spg_323 :)

Lately I've been playing with the terms "Detachment" and "Alignment" and I think I am understanding these things bit by bit... I will share what I've learned about "Detachment" so far.

Think of detachment as in terms of "detachment from outcome". You put the wish to the universe and you don't really care whether it manifests or not. Universe will show a lot of opportunities to fulfill your desire. All you got to do is to ACT.

This all sounds philosophical right? Lets take some practical examples of it.

You wish - I need a new job with X payment.
Put this wish into the universe and think of how would it feel if you get that job right now. Close your eyes and feel the same way as you will feel when you get the job. This is Step 1 :: Ask.

Then think of the ways how you can get to know where are the jobs available. Search the internet. Ask your friends in similar field to forward your CV to their employers. There are certain organizations you want to be part of, and you know they are not hiring. Still you write them a mail that you are willing to work with them. You act on your wish and BELIEVE that these actions will give you whatever you want. This is Step 2 :: Believe

Then int the step Receive here comes detachment. Once you acted you don't have to care about whatever happens.. Now all you have to do is to take your mind off of that wish and focus on something else. This is the most important part that you must learn. Focus your mind on something else.
What I do to focus my mind on something else is to play my favorite computer game, meet friends and discuss anything, read some interesting book, play guitar, play football. I just make sure I don't think about that wish anymore. Sometimes those thoughts come into my mind, I let them come but immediately focus on something else.
Don't try to resist those thoughts. What you resist, persists....
This is how you are making yourself ready for the upcoming attraction.

Now the most important question! When will I get that Job?
Here comes the term "Alignment". Alignment means nothing more than being prepared to accept your wish in your life.
Now say you contacted 20 recruiters to offer you a job. Now say 6 of them contacted you back and invited for the personal interview.
In this state all you have to do is to actually receive.
In this state most of the people think of following thoughts
1) Will I be able to do this?
2) Do I have any chance since there are lots of other people who are smarter and more intelligent than me in the competition?
3) Will I be able to fulfill their requirements?

If such thoughts come into your mind then it tells universe that you are not in alignment, means you are not strong enough to have whatever you ask for.
Now if you are working out in gym and you ask your trainer to give you the toughest workout so that you will get results faster. Will your trainer allow you to do that? obviously NO. Because your body is not yet ready to tolerate that strain. :) Same applies here.

Here are some exercises to get better alignment.
Suppose you want to get X thing. Think of way how you can get it. Go out and start doing those things. You will face some failures. And this is what you should be looking for. When you fail again and again at something, you start caring less about it (I AM NOT SAYING YOUR AIM IS TO FAIL AT IT). Just learn the cause of failure and improve it in your next attempt. This way you will gain more confidence. The state of being confident gives you better alignment.

So you attend an interview and they reject you. But you learned your weak points. You improved the weak point in your next interview and still they rejected you, but this time you felt you were so close to getting job but unfortunately you couldn't make it. This time your feeling confident that you will make it any way.
So when you face 3rd interview the thoughts like will I be able to do it and all will not be there, because you know what you need to do and you worked on it. And this time you get the Job.

Act confidently = get aligned
Don't care about the output = get detached.

Whats important is no matter how slow, but keep moving forward. :)

I think there are different ways to view detachment and different LOA sources support this.  Some people need to completely take their focus off their desire to fully detach.  Personally, I can detach but still focus on it.  The LOA sources I've been drawn to say that that when we put out focus on something, that energy draws what desire to us - as long as we are in alignment with the desire.  In other words, as long as I truly believe I can have what I desire and don't focus on the fact that I don't have it in my reality today, I can focus on it and attract it.  But I am detached - I feel no desperation, no anxiety, just a sense of peace and faith that it is on my way to me.

To me, that's the wonderful thing about LOA - there's a technique and process for everyone.  It's fun to play with different things to see what resonates with you.

Thank you soooo much Maverick for such a detailed reply. Well i have a question. In your post Maverick  you had mentioned that "Sometimes those thoughts come into my mind, I let them come but immediately focus on something else". Well With me also it is happening but i dont get anxious or desperaate why it is not here yet. Rather i am reminded sometimes about the end result (whenever i have such a feeling i nurture it) or sometimes i feel like taking actions(some times i feel like it is weak or i doubt about that and times it is soo strong it comes like a flash msg. In that case i put them in my to do list and take the first step) and other times the thought comes with no emtions attached to it.. What i want to know does others also have the same feelings or is every one able to detach completey or as maveric had suggested you distract yourself when those thought comes

I can't really explain how to get there in a step by step process because it's different for everyone.  I had to be detached first so that I didn't feel any desperation or anxiety but I found that once I did that, I could still focus on what I want and the desperation didn't come back.  There were points before I felt detached that I had to take my focus off my desire and that's what helped me to detach, but it didn't need to stay that way.

There are so many different threads that explain detachment wonderfully on this thread.  There is an amazing thread stickied in the relationship forum started by angel star.

If you forcefully try to resist those thoughts, the more thoughts will emerge. When I find myself in such situation, what I do is like this.
When I realize that this is the negative thought, I let that thought come into my mind. When that thought is completely clear, I look at that thought as third person, laugh at it, and I say "So cute" and then again try to make myself busy in whatever I like. Imagine the situation you are playing with your little niece  and he says, I'll punch you in the face, and you say "So Cute" and resume playing. You don't pay much attention to that.

Its great the you feel like taking actions. :) Because you know, you can manifest some small things like having the type of dinner you wish tonight, but when it comes to manifesting larger desires, like making million dollars, or finding soul mate etc. You must take the actions. There is no substitute for that. What The Law of Attraction will do in this case is  arrange everything so that you will face the least resistance. If you don't take actions there is nothing The Law of Attraction do for you. :). The earlier you understand this, the better :)

Also you are saying that sometimes you feel the desire to act is weak and you doubt or sometimes its too strong. What I guess is that, this is due to not being in proper alignment. The more you act the more aligned you become.
1) You want new job, try facing as many interviews as you can.
2) You want more money, try meeting people who are already rich and ask them what they did to be that rich. They can give you more pointers on this better than anyone else.
3) You want to find your soul mate (considering you as a man), try meeting as many girls as you can. and then settle with a girl you enjoy spending time with the most.

Action brings you in an alignment. The speed of manifestation depends directly on your alignment. The more aligned you are, the faster it manifests.

What i want to know does others also have the same feelings or is every one able to detach completey or as maveric had suggested you distract yourself when those thought comes

Well, I understand that every human being is different but at the core level we are all the same. While learning everyone faces these feeling like you are facing now. Although detachment strategies might be different for different people. I shared what works for me. I can not assure that it will work for everyone else. :)
You have to experiment on what works for you. In the beginning you don't have clue, what works and what doesn't. In that case you can use strategies that work for others and develop you own strategies on top of them as you learn and grow.
