The major mistake we make is by not creating our own identity.
The problem is, most of the people (including me) start doing things without having a plan in mind. Too many people also plan too much and when things don't go according to plan, they freak out. It's very important to have a balance, and balance is everything in life.
The problem with starting without a plan is that you don't know where you want to go. It's like travel without a destination. Which is great, if you want to be a hippy, but if not, take some time to think about what you want to be. Take time to imagine what the next you will be like.
What will you wear, how will you sit, stand, eat drink.
Who will be your friends and how will you interact with your co-workers.
Take time to think about what a person of your future status and caliber do in a dangerous or embarrassing situation.
What are the tough decisions he will make etc.
Add your own points here ...
The point is, to focus really hard and get into the skin of the next you. It doesn't have to take 5 months or 3 years for you to get there or have that kind of money, car or whatever. You can get there, today, right now, before you finish reading this. All you have to do is:
Visualize
If you know how to, then do it right now.
Stop reading this and close your eyes and answer all these questions for yourself. Come back only after you are done.
If you don't know how to visualize, or what I mean by that, look for "The Secret" (movie/documentary/whatever).
The identity
Once you know exactly who you want to be, you will know your new identity and actively want to move towards becoming that person. Where the roads close, you will know where to go and what to do. You will somehow be able to "figure everything out" to get to where you want to be.
Remember, to build a skyscraper, you need to dig a hole in the ground. The higher the building, the deeper the foundation. Dig this one, it's worth it and more.
