Can't get my mind to shutup when I'm trying to meditate!

Anyone else have this problem?? What can I possibly do to successfully get into the alpha brain wave state?

Another question (maybe for pandoram) I've been seeing the number 931 a lot, like 9:31am or 9310 views on a page, etc. This happens to be the first 3 digits of my girl's number. Is this a coincidence or does it mean something?

Think of your mind being on fire. If you dont mess with the fire it'll slowly burn itself out.
If you try to stop it..it's still like adding more fuel to the fire.

Just observe the thoughts go by like a passing parade ..without making a judgement or trying figure it out.
Don't even try to stop it...just focus on an object in front of you.
Slowly the mind will come to a rest o it's own.

It might take several attempt of this methdoe. The more you just observe.
Gradually you'll get into the moment.

Or maybe you can do your hobbies...paint, play music...ect. It's like meditation.
The more you're in the moment the more you're not in your head.

I listen to Brain sync or solfeggio tones.
Sounds frequency to help trigger alpha brain waves...ect
It's kind of why monks chant to produce certain sound waves.

Not sure about numbers...I used to see certain digits on clocks..ect too.

There's very few things that quiet my mind.

Running is one of them - and it's only because I'm so exhausted that all I can think about getting one foot in front of the other. 

The other is relaxation tracks - the kind you find in iPhone sleep aid apps to lull you to sleep.

My favourites are, ironically, a track of meditation bowls being brushed.  So soothing.

You just have to find that one thing that works for you and run with it.
