What is the universe telling me with this sign?

In the depths of my unhappiness today and my inability to do much for anyone in our home, beyond basic needs, I think I was just given a sign.

Earlier on facebook a friend was talking about a song she always sang to her baby. My song for my oldest baby was Your Song by Elton John. I added my thought to her posting. Then while watching my favourite show a little while ago, that song was playing in the background of a scene. Sign? And if so, what for? To tell me I am not alone?

I didn't ask for any signs today. I asked for a sign YESTERDAY that never came! So that wouldn't be it, I am sure. And I don't even know why the universe would give me a sign right now since I feel so horrible and so full so self loathing and undeserving of any signs.

I had another fight with my mum. And I shouldn't fight with her at her age but it is so hard when she is so mean to me!!

I just want someone to take care of me and comfort me and make it all better. But I have no one. Or was that the universe telling me I do?

Find how wonderful you are


Compliment yourselves, believe in yourselves, and give yourselves credit.

You are wonderful people; each and every one of you has many talents. You have achieved much in your lives.  You are dear people. All you have to do is acknowledge it, believe in it and cultivate it. I once heard a dear person say – "The perfect person for being myself – is me".  And so, the most perfect person for being you - is you". It is a wonderful sentence. Please remember it and give yourself credit for the wonderful person you are. Believe in yourself and in what you are able to do. Believe in your ability to love and be happy. Believe in your inner light and that you can create so much. Even the sky is not the limit. Believe in the multitude of possibilities for you. Believe that you can believe!

Give yourselves a kind word. Stand in front of the mirror and say a kind word to yourselves. Give yourselves credit for things you are successful in, for things you have accomplished, for gifts you have given to the world, for your good qualities, for the beauty within you. Thank yourself for the beautiful plant that you have placed in your house, for the good cake you baked, or for the beautiful picture you hung on the wall. Let yourselves enjoy who you are.

 

Two exercises that will assist you

First exercise – complimenting one's self

Make a list of things you love about yourself. For example: "I am smart", "I am kind", "I have a great sense of humor", "I have pretty eyes", "I am very friendly and I make people feel good about themselves".

Make this list and within it you will find yourselves. You will find out how loveable you are.  You will find out your useful and good qualities.

First you might need to strain your brain a little but the rest will soon to follow.

Second exercise –Accomplishments

Make a list of all the things you have accomplished in your daily life, things you feel you have been successful in. Note these things and add a few of the sentiments you that have felt while achieving them. Describe them in detail. Experience once more those good sentiments through the writing. Later you will be able to relive the event and sentiments while reading them once more. You can also add more small achievements every time you recall them. Soon enough more and more insights will come to you as you realize that the act of adding achievements is the greatest success.

One of my paintings was hung in my parents' dining room. The painting is pretty and expresses joy.

I made wonderful breakfast for my friends and they all enjoyed it

I finished my Bachelors and Masters Degree

I help people find the good and beautiful within them

I helped a friend buy a shirt that looks good on him

I attended a good workshop on attracting abundance and it helped me attract the things I wanted in my life

I was successful in managing a project at work

Now read what you wrote and see how wonderful you are.

Thank you for sharing this exercises to us Soda, though I put some on the things that I did. I will start being grateful then for all the qualities that I have and am sure that this will bring me more positive vibes as well

You are a Go-Getter, are you not?
It sounds like your really the head of this family and people you live with.
It sounds like your mum needs you in order for her to survive, and your kids definitely need you as kids, they need their mom.
Maybe thats what your missing here, You hold ALL the power in that household, but you let everyone else take that power from you.
I would never put up with anyone telling me things like what you wrote your mom is telling you. She is not happy with herself for some other reason, and its not you.
If it were me, and I'm not saying this is what YOU should do, but if it were me, I'd pack up the kids, take as little as possible and start the hell over somewhere else.
It sounds like this situation is draining the life right out of you.
If I had it, I would send you a million dollars to start over somewhere else, somewhere that you can feel positive energy.
New, unknowing and unknown faces. People that don't have a clue about you and when you find that place that resonates with you. Put in that change of address and just love those kids, get a job, and start living.
I'm sorry, I don't know you, I only know of what you have written here, and it sounds like you are dieing.

You have only to make up your own mind, have faith in yourself and you can do anything required to change all you see and experience.
Understand that the Universe works whether you know it or not, if you know it, then use it to your advantage, and get everything you want out of your life.
Just a thought, I do hope I am not overstepping my boundaries with you here. I don't mean to.

Thank you for all your kind words.

I could never abandon my mum. she would have no one. She is not herself any longer, some days she is, but often I deal with what I posted...her anger, her rage, her cruelty. But it goes with the territory of being 88 and in a deteriorating body, and a mind too. It is so hard because she was the best mother ever growing up...she would tell me every day I could do anything and be anything. But once she hit 80, she got mean and it has been hard. But I could never leave her because ultimately she needs me, no matter what.

I try and get away with the kids on trips and I am trying to focus hard on planning a good one and hoping within the planning, the means will arise. I would be most happy taking the kids on a 3-6 month backpacking trip around Europe as long as someone awesome was caring for my mum while we were gone.

I still don't know how my public figure love object figures into all of this but I feel so strongly that we will meet and we will connect, that I guess I hope when that happens, he will be able to help us all. Provide me with more trips away and respite help for my mum.

On my vision board, I have pictures of what I want for us all...I have an airplane and a pic of their first class beds which is the only way my mum would fly these days...next to it is a pic of my mum. I wish to take her home to Europe, as she has never liked Canada. Next to that is a grove of cottages set among several acres in a tiny European village, with an ocean view...if I can achieve getting us there,we would live in the biggest house and mum could have her own little cottage and perhaps a helper for us in another.

I have been feeling so positive about making my vision a reality but these past few days have been so awful. I do feel better today though and she has calmed down and acts now as though nothing happened. She does this though....flares up and down, good days and bad day. Life with the elderly.

I would still love any opinions on the song connection I asked about...and today, more little signs like that have happened. Seeing a song on fbook and then hearing it on the radio or tv...what is the universe sayng to me through these musical signs?

I understand. I also understand that you need not go anywhere to change your experience.
The songs could be signs, I don't know, but if you believe they are, then they are.
You sound like a woman with much love in her heart. I suggest maybe taking more of that love in your heart and putting it to use giving yourself more of it.
You need to love yourself fully, first and foremost. You know what they say;
If you cannot take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else.
Pay yourself first with your love and then pass it out to family, then friends, then to all the Universe.
If you start your goals out more short term, you may find that the happiness that your short term goals bring will lead you to the longer term goals you have, ie; Trips, your ex, your kids, peoples reactions to you, etc.
Envision all of these things as they are true for you right now. Lie to yourself if you need to. A belief is a thought you keep thinking. You need to believe. then let go, detach with an expectancy of that which you want will manifest.
I believe in signs from the Universe, and I think you should also, it sounds like they are coming to you, Keep the faith, especially in yourself.

What do you think the signs mean? That's what's important. I think you need to ask for a sign and ask for it to show you something. I love signs but like you was sometimes uncertain what they meant so I changed the way I asked for them. I say please show me a sign to show me I'm right not to give up on X and please can you make it clear so I understand it.

I did this the other night - please show me a sign to show me that I'm right not to give up on x.

I was on here and flicking between here / fb and my work email. The tv was on in the background but I wasn't watching it as such. It was a film Tango and Cash lol. I asked for a sign and was flicking between sites etc and happened to just glance at the tv and was just watching for a few moments. I've no idea what was happening in the film but Teri Hatcher was on the screen and said to Sylvester Stallone - "think positive" and then walked out of the room.......... Now that would have happened in the film whether I was watching or not but I took it as a sign that I heard that and was looking and listening to the film at that exact moment. I had asked for a sign but as I wasn't expecting one straight away - I'd detached from it and got it really quickly.

At times - co incidences happen and you think that's a sign but of what? I've taken that out of the equation now and ask for signs to show me - usually when I'm on a downer not to give up.

the guy I love has a word in his e-mail address - it's not a completely strange word but not one you hear every day but the amount of times that word appears to me when I'm thinking about him or the situation I'm in - I take that to be a sign too. a sign that there's a good reason he is on my mind and remaining there.
