Made some progress but now I'm blocking myself

I attend a big university where football and basketball players are treated like celebrities. There's this one guy on the football team that I've always thought was really cute but we don't have classes together or the same friends so there was no way for me to get to kno him. I randomly decided one day to add him on Twitter. I wasn't expecting anything since he has around 10k followers and only followed his friends back. One day I visualized him messaging me and asking me for my number. It was a long shot and I eventually forgot about it. The next day I checked my e-mail and saw an alert saying he was following me on Twitter. Then the next  day I received a message from him saying he felt like he knew me from somewhere but didn't know why. We started talking and made plans to hang out this summer. He didn't ask me for my number but we have tweeted back and forth a few times. It's weird but I've found letting go and receiving harder now that I know seemingly impossible things are possible. I find myself checking my Twitter every few minutes to see if he's messaged me and I know I'm sending out a desperate frequency but I don't know how to go back to not caring. Any advice?

Also, you could just get out and have some fun like you normally would've before you started chatting with him. 
This week, I'm preparing to move, but in my down time I've been keeping myself distracted by learning how to do random stuff like how to cut my own hair and different ways to style it. It's silly, but I find it fun.

Actually, you're absoloutely right. When I start feeling down about him I turn on my music and dance around my room. It's ridiculous but it makes me feel better or I watch my favorite movies or shows and it's crazy how much time flies by without me thinking of him
