How can i begin and continue the process of attracting my ex boyfriend with LOA?

Hi all.
Have been reading for months now on this forum and have gone back and forth with hope and doubt then despair.
I have been dating a man for 8 months whom i found out was dating another as well. I know he cared for me.  I fell in love with him.
I asked for exclusive and he said he couldn't at this time....But wanted to continue dating casually. I declined.  He chose her.
I have been riding the roller coaster of emotions. Completely obsessed over the loss what went wrong and how i can get him back.   I feel him inside of me and believe i should be with him honestly and truly. I wouldnt be here posting to and looking for support from you all if i didn't believe in our union. 
I have held on too tightly not realizing it was launching him farther towards her and away from me.  I know i need to change my thinking and fast.
I found myself at rock bottom this morning and I believe i and am ready to let go of the old relationship and attract him back in a positive abundant way.
I know my vibe is off and I see the change in my life since i lost him and my way.
My thinking is at times panicked and desperate, negative. Defintitely NOT a good way to manifest my ex back in my heart.
I know positivity reaps reward and i want to get back there

So here goes all of you amazing people...I am lost. Need your help to find myself and the love he has for me.  Reading blogs from internet sites seem to take away from the solid real emotional advice i have seen on this forum. You guys are real and have real experiences.  Sites are great but feel a little clinical. I find an energy here that is different. Plus you all are my last stop.  I do not want to give up yet...........
I need hope more than anything--- and i have found that here when i had lost all faith.
There are many many posts and links for technique but it is a little hard to unravel and understand the steps i need to take.  But i am a eager student.
I don't mean to ask redundant questions but EXACTLY how do i do it?
How do I begin?
How do i affirm?  Give gratitude. How do i imagine him. When do i do this?
How will i know i am aligned properly with him. Will i feel it? or see signs?
Please help. And thank you all in advance.

The basic principle of LOA is that "like" attracts "like" Therefore stating that you need "Hope" will only bring about more to be hopeful for or of.  Trust me, I know this is not the easiest thing to do.  However there are tools to help you get through this difficult time.

You may want to consider listening to following before bed each night or when you feel low.

You may also want to adopt the following affirmation " I am already enjoying a healthy, loving and committed relationship with (insert his name) at the true level of my being and enjoying this healthy, loving and committed relationship with (insert his name) NOW manifests in my physical world.

I would also recommend that you forgive him in your heart.  Literally say to yourself "I forgive him, I forgive him, I forgive him" for any unpleasant feelings he may cause.  Does that make sense?

I do understand the need to forgive. Until yesterday I hadn't.  I said it-but never really meant it.
We had a conversation on the phone after 3 weeks of no contact and as silly as it sounds I chose not to berate him or insult him even though i feel he had treated me poorly.
No one agrees that i should have given him that consideration after the deception, but I disagree.  I felt it was the right thing to do even as hurt and angry as i was at the time.
As you state "you get what you give".  Love and true forgiveness can only bring me peace and love back from him.  Hatred breeds more hatred.
He didnt intend to hurt-he just chose what the thought was the best path for himself at the time.
We chose to part as friends, and i sent a few texts there after our conversation wishing him well. 
Does it matter that i really feel i want him to be well?  In my heart. I feel happiness for him.
I have not tried to change his mind. Just work on myself and getting to a place where i can manifest my desire to be with him again.
This is why i came to the forum. I think I can let go-detach from our old relationship and now imagine me with him and happier than ever.
This is where I dont know what to do.
I will use your affirmation.  And feel him around me, smiling, being with me, holding me loving me.
Any other ideas?

I am happy to hear you understand.  Understanding the significance of forgiveness is key.  It will make a huge difference in your life in general.  You can apply it to anyone or anything.

I have kept my thoughts private..I intuitively knew that i should.

Should i ask the universe for signs? or is that placing doubt on my intention and not trusting? Also is doing any kind of RS being attached to the outcome and voiding my letting go?
I am seeing signs, and i havent stated my intention yet...
does that mean anything?
I am so grateful for your responses and encouragement. The hope it brings makes me positive and a true believer in this process.

Asking the Universe for signs is debatable.  In my opinion, if you ask for signs, that is exactly what you will get.  I just pay attention to my surroundings.  I am constantly being reminded (seeing signs) that what I desire will manifest sooner than later.     However, I never asked for them. They just show up.
