I'm not clear about what I want and why I want it

“I know what I want!  I want more money!  I want to be fit, thin and sexy!”  Most people say.

Yet, most people who say that to me are fat and broke!

They haven’t gotten to the bottom of why they want what they want.

Almost everyone I meet is trying to prove something, demonstrate something, not be something, show the world, be somebody…

YOU ARE ALWAYS GETTING WHAT YOU WANT!  You just aren’t clear about it, so when you get it, you don’t know you have it.

If you want fame and fortune so you can prove to the world that you are good enough, then your mind is clear that you aren’t good enough…otherwise you won’t have to prove it.  If you are clear you aren’t good enough, then you will attract situations that make it obvious you aren’t good enough. So, get clear on what you want.

When you are clear on what you want, this gives the universe permission to bring it to you. Until then, you could be blocking everything you want with conflicting beliefs. Who knows what is stopping you from getting what you want? One thing could be that you really don’t know what you want.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us!

I do not exactly agree with what you say at the end... that a coaching can help.
The coaching is for sure useful (never mind what the coaching is) but what you are talking about - what the people really want to be or want to appear is a very complicated question that can't be resolved so easily and quickly.

Indeed , every person has a particular life and experience, I'm sure you will agree on that?.... Every person has a past and events that marked his past, soul and body in a good or a bad way. We all carry baggage from the past - consciously or not...
In the most part of the cases - depressed people, especially obese people or "unlucky" people there's a real need to make a psychological therapy....not just a coaching :-)

Otherwise, I totally agree with you - the Universe gives exactly what we wished for!  We must know what we really want in life and especially "WHY?"....

According to me, another problem we can meet often ,except the accuracy of our desires , is the control of the inconscious thoughts.
There're many "hasardous" thoughts difficult to tame...

So heres my question, if you write out what you want from life, like I have, and then you receive more clarity on what you want, is it ok to go back and update, not start over. just make it more precise?

yep.

when you focus on something you want, the LOA will bring to you more thoughts about what you are thinking specially when you are feeling good.
Remember that the most important thing is to feel good

so thin it in this way what you explain about more thought to be specific its a proof that the LOA works. Coz you are attracting better thoughts

Interesting.

Seems to me that we are continually bombarded by propoganda telling us that we should want things and that we needs thing, in order to make us happy. So people feel that they want something but are unclear about what they want. I say forget about this. Why do we feel we need material things or success in order to feel fullfilled and happy. And now, we are being offered courses or coaching to further help us come up with something we can desire. The continuous desire or want of something is what creates suffering and once ignited the desire never ends. LOA works when used correctly, but is less effective when we single out particular wants and desires as special, effectively closing the door to abundance from any other source. Be open to the abundance that is all around us, appreciate what we already have.

It's getting clear now but I'm still in a mess.
I asked my psychiatrist to teach me meditation.

It's OK to not know what you don't want.

Start with this: What don't you want? What do you constantly moan about? Most people can write an essay on what they don't want. Yet do nothing about it.

So start with what you don't want in your life any more. Then turn it around. What would be the complete opposite of it? Just go with it. Don't worry if you think you can't achieve what you want instead. That's another post.

It helps the more specific you can be, lets take and example of what I mean.

Say you go into a restaurant and say to the waiter that you want something to eat. The first question he is going to ask is - what do you want to eat.

So you get a little more specific and tell him you´d like to eat some meat. So after waiting a little while the waiter turns up with a nice piece of rare steak.

The trouble is that you don´t like your meat rare you like it well done, and in fact you don´t really like steak at all but you do love lamb.

But as you didn´t give any specific instructions as to what you wanted you could never really be happy with what turned up.

If you want well done lamb when you visit a restaurant you have to ask for exactly that and not be vague.

Begin to see any connections with this example and your life. How many times have you asked for something but not been happy with what transpired? Far too many times I would imagine!

So the more specific you can be about what you want the more chance you have of receiving that very thing.

I agree with Andrew Wilkie. I too am certain you at least know what you don't want. Knowing what you don't want is nothing more than a sign that pinpoints the hidden treasure. The treasure = what you really want. Start noticing what you don't like (hate) but don't get into it too personal as Andrew said too. It's purpose is just to give you a lead, a hint - what you want instead. So, just picture the same situation the way you like it. It may or may not actualize, but at least you will know what you want.

Peace of mind and focus is the key for me> Peace of mind.. if you have peace of mind, it would be easy to know your hearts desire, the desire is pure as it comes from the heart so no negative thoughts can hinder. Focus.. focus on how you visualize on achieving what you desire =)
