Affirmation "No-No's"

Why is, "I let go the past" a terrible affirmation?
Where is your focus?
Your focus is on the past.
What you focus on, you get more of.
I know a woman who has been "letting go of the past" for 30 years.
All day long, she says:  "I let go the past, I let go the past, I let go the past".
After 30 years, the past is still very much with her; she hasn't let go of anything.
She hasn't let go of anything, because she hasn't given her mind an arrival destination.
Her brain says, "if you've let go the past, where are you then?  you haven't told me."
Her brain says, "well, You still keep focusing on the past and you won't tell me where you are, so I'm going to give you more past to focus on."
The fix:
"I am present", "I look to the bright future", "I am here, now".
Communicate with your brain like its a 4 year old.
Don't say what, who, where & how you are not.
In affirmations (and any other time, for that matter) affirm Who/What/Where & How you ARE. (or the person you're becoming)
Tell the story of how you want it to be, say it like it already is and say it often.

p.s. One more for the road:  Instead of "I don't care what people think of me", substitute "I care what I think of me. And I like me"!
