The last several years have brought unexplainable sorrow, fear, disappointment and crushed dreams. There were countless days, months in fact, I thought I would never be able to feel truly happy again, much less love my life.

Yet over time, through a lot of faith and tears, God helped me accept that although I couldnít change the circumstances I found myself in, I could change how I reacted to them. I realized Iíve been given one life to live ó this life ó and I could either continue to allow adversities to have power over my happiness, or I could embrace Godís promise for abundant life and make it a reality in my own. The choice was mine.

In John 10:10a, Jesus explains thereís a thief who seeks to steal, kill and destroy us. But in John 10:10b, Jesus declares He came to earth so we could not only live life but live it abundantly despite the thiefís intentions. ďI came that they may have life and have it abundantlyĒ (John 10:10b). Here we see the contrast between the destroyer of happiness and the Giver of joy.

Jesus was explaining He is the answer to experiencing the best life possible despite what life throws at us. He is what gives our lives meaning and joy.

Choosing to learn to love my life, even if it wasnít the life I had imagined, was the best choice Iíve ever made. It wasnít always easy, but as I intentionally chose to let Jesus be the source of my joy, even in the midst of less-than-joyful circumstances, my perspectives and feelings changed for the better.

The life you have today, and all it includes or doesnít include, is the life God has given you. Itís the life youíre supposed to love, despite what it looks like. Itís the only life you have, and the only life youíre going to get. You can live it abundantly with joy based on Christ alone or let life pass you by as you allow problems, disappointments or drudgery to steal your zest for living.

I now realize it was not only within my reach to love my life again and live it abundantly, but 100 percent within my control, as it is for you.

Your happiness is up to you.

How to Use Law of Attraction / "Sending love"

I read this all the time.

What exactly is involved in "sending love"?

I had a holiday romance a long time ago now and the guy treated me with such disrespect when I went to see him for a weekend. He really was appalling, but I was immature and besotted and allowed it to upset me.

Years later I've seen his photos on Facebook and he has gone down the pan terribly. He's overweight, really unattractive and his health isn't good from what I read. Apart from the health issues which I hope he resolves, I was quite amused at the thought of me getting so upset over a guy I would actively avoid now. He looks frightening now.

What does that mean? I've seen it in reply to a couple of posts here but I don't know what it means and googling is no help. Thanks.

Would you say that, if you believe that anything can happen, even though you cannot see how what you want would happen - not specifically that you believe it is impossible, but you can't see a way that it could logically happen, for example:

You want a relationship with someone but they live nowhere near you and you never see them and you can't imagine either bumping into them or them contacting you;

You want a particular job, but there are no vacancies or it's a difficult industry

You want a certain amount of money for a specific reason but you don't see how you can get it

All the while you have a belief that anything is possible, miracles happen and so on.

If all the above is what is currently happening, but you believe anything is possible, how do you manifest what you want?

Hope I make sense. It's been a very long day !!!!

I'm posting this not to advocate it but to discuss. What do you think?

https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/blog/the-blame-game/201609/the-truth-about-the-law-attraction

He seems not to have a clear understanding before he starts debunking. Anyone think there is any grain of truth in what he says?

I have an interview (well more precisely a selection day; it is more than simply an interview) next week. I am one of those people who can perform well in a job, and put together an excellent application. But when in front of a panel, I perform very differently to how I would in a job or indeed if I was simply talking about myself, my experiences etc to those on the panel. I have sought feedback and this is shown below.

From my general recollection across both interviews, my key piece of advice would be to ensure that in interviews you listen carefully to the question and respond succinctly to this.  I recall that you can give a lot of background in your answers, which can make it difficult for panel members to really see the substance of the response.  Try to keep the question at the forefront of your mind when responding, and think about the key points which you need to cover in order to answer the question.

The issue is, I KNOW all this. But when in front of a panel, it all goes out the window and I revert to "rabbit in headlights" It is involuntary and no amount of talking to myself beforehand, reading, preparation makes a difference. I have had brain freeze and then gabbled. It's also difficult to keep the question in mind when they are long questions with various "parts" to them; it's so easy to lose track. I also have ADD which is another handicap.

Being "succinct" concerns me because I am always afraid of not being thorough enough, which I have been told in the past.

I genuinely don't know how to stop it and would appreciate some sensible advice from other members.

Thanks

How to Use Law of Attraction / How exactly does meditation work?

I mean, how does it make a difference? I've read so much and half heartedly tried but I guess it needs to be done regularly, made a habit of, to have any lasting difference.

How to Use Law of Attraction / Gratitude, and tricking the universe
« on: April 25, 2018, 02:24:47 AM »
If we're being grateful for various reasons, and think this is a way to get more things to be grateful for, or even a specific something, do you think this is an attempt to fool the universe and we won't be able to pull the wool over the universe's eyes so to speak? For example if I think of very simple things I'm really thankful for lately, they would be someone giving me a lift when the train broke down, meeting an amazing lady today who's still happily working at 77, a great evening with my book group, my football team winning, getting a free gift card for Pret a Manger for starters. These are all fantastic spirit lifters.

I am grateful for these things and experiences, but how do these bring bigger things into my life? More specifically how grateful do we have to be?

Could we have a separate thread for these/forum area for ease of reference?

How do we get this right? What's the difference between gratitude, thankfulness, feeling blessed? Isn't there a subtle difference? How should we guard against being grateful for crumbs when we know we deserve better? I'm thinking of getting a menial job when you have been in more high flying ones just to pay some of the bills, or being grateful that a rude and disrespectful partner or ex has been pleasant for once, i.e. breadcrumbs.

What do you think?

Law of Attraction for Abundance / Explanation for this?
« on: April 16, 2018, 09:13:36 PM »
I put in an application for a secondment and was 100% convinced I would be shortlisted for an interview. I wasn't selected. I had an email telling me the panel was impressed by the application but had applicants more experienced than me.

How do you explain that? On paper I met all the requirements and believed to the extent I'd begun preparing for the interview before even hearing from them.
