What works for you?

Apologies if this topic has come up before - wasn't sure of the etiquette here, whether it's preferred to start a new topic, or to look for old ones to add to -

anyway, just curious to hear what techniques particularly work for you. For me, I find:

1. Definitely focussing on what I want to happen, rather than what I haven't got

2. Feeling good about whatever I'm thinking about (ie, if I feel worry or doubt, then try to adjust my thinking until I hit a thought that feels good. If that doesn't work, try and work out if I might have any subconscious reasons for not wanting the thing I'm asking for, and work through that).

3. Definitely also allowing myself to feel happy / grateful for any progress in the right direction (my previous habit before learning of LOA was to worry about losing or ruining whatever good thing had happened to me - now I squash those idea right down and just concentrate on enjoying whatever good has happened)

4. I actually find thinking things along the lines of 'I'd like to remove any barriers to this happening' helps. Feels good, and usually is followed by positive results. I mention this as I've read lots of places that negative affirmations don't work - but this one does seem to work for me

5. Setting a time or date DOES NOT work for me. Seems to make it harder to squash down doubts

6. Remembering and allowing myself to feel good about any time things have gone as I wanted them to.

7. And definitely also feeling grateful and noticing everything that is good now -

8. Forcing myself to believe things I don't believe doesn't work. Like, if my car got smashed up, willing myself to believe that it never happened wouldn't work - but thinking another solution to the carless dilemma probably would.

9. Basically, anything that you can wholeheartedly believe in, no matter how irrational, seems to work. But forcing belief doesn't (at least, not for me)

Hello,
Well I'm quite new to the topic, so I don't have too much experiences right now, but what I've learned so far:
Setting a time or date doesn't work for me either, I just check it every day "Is it there? is it there yet?" and it makes things actually WORSE.

Forcing myself to believe things I don't believe doesn't work. Or at least I have to get rid of the old limiting believes before I try to make it different. You can change anything, but it requires a lot of patience and inner work. But EFT does work!

Remembering and allowing myself to feel good about any time things have gone as I wanted them to.
And definitely also feeling grateful and noticing everything that is good now - As for this one, I have to keep reminding myself. I need to focus, and remind myself each and every day.

I just thought of something else: it seems to work absolutely fine to say that I WANT something to happen, rather than to pretend it already has. In fact, for me, trying to pretend something has happened when I know it hasn't seems to activitate doubt - but if I say that I WANT something to happen - well I know it's true that that's what I want. And it's been amazing, how often those things are delivered - even when it seemed to me that it would require a miracle for whatever to happen, just asking and reaching a place where I felt good about the asking seemed to deliver :) - but it never seems to work if I pretend something has happened already if it hasn't.

You know what... that point with regards to KNOWING u want it, and not doubting it, I have to agree with. It's easier to do that than to believe you already have it... Accept, remove the doubts and fears of not getting it by all means, but this is against what everyone is saying here! Hmmmm, Im on ur wavelength Ginny!

Hi,

1. I write down my goals. No matter how big. If you have the desire for something or it 'pops' into your head you can achieve it.  If you don't think you can, that is just a belief.

I can write it several ways

It is now ___________ I have,feel,see etc.

I'm so happy and grateful now that.

If I have is too much of a stretch. I'll write I choose to, I intent to...

I'm sure there is another way too, but I can't remember it.

I sometimes add dates, I sometimes don't.  If the date passes there is something else I need to do if I want the goal


I create monthly goals, Then weekly goals.  Then review at the end of the week and each month tally up the score.   I always surprise myself at the end of the month just how much I've actually achieved. This is great too for a yearly review and recalling your success stories.


2. Find a picture of the end result and add it to my vision board film. - Change this often!
3. I'll incorporate it into my Ideal day, life movie script.

4. Then I'll use EFT to clear as many of my issues, challenges, blocks that are preventing me from having what I want now - that is why I don't have it. I'm blocking it on some level.

5. Then I think what can I do, to make it happen? Who can I contact, what can I read or watch etc. Who else done what I want, can I copy them in some way, shape or form?  If there is some fear in contacting somebody. I wonder why, then often try and contact them as quickly as possible.  Always far more relaxing than worrying should I contact them.

Do lots of work. If it feels good it's not work. If it feels like work, I need to work on something.  Constantly doing something towards what I want is far better than doing nothing at all.

6. If I listen to any background music or noise, it tends to be something really positive. I'll quite happily put on some subliminal too, once I've check out the affirmations and credentials of the person saying them.

7. Often re listen to one of my many audio books to gee me up and make me believe even more that it is possible.  I like many of the 'fiction' prosperity books.  If I remember I'll go and find a new one or remember one that two or three people have recommended to me.

8. I'll add it to some really powerful software that I use called Subliminal Power - http://www.subliminal-power.co.uk/ . This just merrily plays on my laptop.

9. Clear some space or where I've clutter so that what I want has space to appear in my life.

I do all of these things. Not all the time and in this order, yet combined, they are so powerful.

Some times when I'm having a 'bad' day. I'll just put on my runners and go running. Totally changes how you feel.

I think the big key is repetition of it all. Everything you want is already waiting for you. The universe knows what you want. You just have to belief and feel as if you know it is going to happen. Then what happens....it does.

We need to keep reading, keep doing, until the penny drops. Or at least that has been my experience. I know you said, this and this. I even read it, I just didn't hear it.

I have some feeling that, you have hit the core & basics of Law of Attraction beautifully, now, its your responsibility too, to help others here on forum who are new in understanding LOA.

I have some feeling that, you have hit the core & basics of Law of Attraction beautifully, now, its your responsibility too, to help others here on forum who are new in understanding LOA.

Thanks Ankur. I will definitely help people round here, I like to help and share my ideas, thoughts and experiences. I will accept that responsiblity, I just hope I don't differ too much on what people say! My current problem is that I don't at the moment in detail KNOW what I want, I have general wants, but not detailed atm, heh. I can do easy short term wants, but details on house, and partner, etc, etc I am not sure! But hey I guess that still doesn't change that once you have worked it out, applying LOA works, as it does for the smaller things :)

You can do, achieve and get what you want, just believe... :)

Relax, attract for what you looking for in life, do not worry too much on it, you will hit the idea of "what you want", suddenly, and then one day you will realize, OMG.... "It's what sets my pulses racing"  ;)

"Just look to next 10 meters, do no worry for the whole journey, it will unfold, as you go along."  8)

Another thing I read that was interesting - this man was saying that LOA often doesn't work for people because they're going about it the wrong way around. ie, they are wishing for X or Y, because they think this will make them happy, whereas the secret is to be happy, and this will attract good things to you.

Which makes sense on lots of different levels, LOA or no.

In fact, in makes such good sense that it makes me wonder about times when this principle doesn't seem to apply. For example, I was going through a period of deep depression a few years ago - but one thing that continually struck me was how kind everyone was. Even complete strangers seemed to have a smile and kind word for me. Even at the time (and this was long long before I ever heard of LOA) I used to wonder, "Why is everyone being so nice to me? I'm being so glum and grumpy, what is bringing all this kindness out, even in strangers?". It still surprises me when I think about it.

And then there are the times when you absolutely believe in something, haven't got a doubt in the world about it, are feeling good in anticipation - and then it doesn't work out as expected and you are stunned and shocked by an event you weren't in the tiniest bit prepared for.

How does that work?

Taking without giving first. That is not the way it works. You give wood to the stove and only then does it warm you.

Huh? That doesn't explain why people were so nice to me when I went through that period of depression. I was genuinely struck by it (and very grateful, although I couldn't get myself together sufficiently to reciprocate). Even strangers were nice to me. It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me - and seems to have carried on since that date. so, in that particular case, the stove did give me fire, even though I didn't give it any wood until years later (I still find that people are pretty nice to me, even strangers. But it only really started a few years ago, when I entered a period of severe depression. Before that, they were just average.)

I was in your shoes, so I know what you mean. But I think you "did give wood to the stove" only subconsciously... because this is not a natural state of mind and soul being depressed. So deep inside you wanted to set yourself free, therefore you were able to attract some help, even if it was not really significant and the real work was ahead of you. Just a year ago when the break-up happened, I was really depressed. I mean it. And what happened? Suddenly day by day some friends of mine contacted me. They were people whose company was once cherished by me but for some reasons I neglected them and we didn't spek in YEARS! A guy called me with whom I literally didn't talk in the past 5 years! And it was a very pleasant thing to know.. the universe (or me myself) took a good care of me in the time of need.

Okay, but why do people sometimes say that it works the opposite? ie that if you are sending out bad vibes, you will get the thing you most fear? How does it happen that you send out negative vibes, and get kindness from people despite that?

I get what you're saying - it's just that some people say the exact opposite will happen, and I wonder why on that occasion (and a few other occasions I can think of) it didn't.

And right now, when I am really longing for a happy family, and am trying to send out all positive thoughts into the universe to create that, really trying to stay positive, and yet it feels like time is running out (I know people say time doesn't matter, but I'm not gonna start a family when I'm 60 now am I?)

Not trying to bring a negative into anyone's experience, just really trying to figure this out so I can give it my best shot :)

I find that, when I want something very very bad, I never get it. That is because I'm too desparate, too dependent and thinking of something that I'm missing instead of thinking of something that I already have. The LOA is so easy to apply that I keep on forgetting how easy it is, start thinking and worrying waaay too much about it, and therefore ruin everything I was working on. Now I've realised this, I've been trying to only take the next three steps whenever I want someting:
1. fully realise that not having it or not getting it will be just fine
2. write down (or draw or put on a visionboard) what it is you want to have, write it down like you already have it (which isn't even that big of a lie, cause we all are everything and nothing, have everything and nothing, are everywhere and nowhere, etc.)
3. (shouldn't be hard after taking the first two steps)
start living the life you want to live, feeling the love you want to feel, put on your best dress, go horseback riding, buy flowers, play your favourite happy song

I believe these 3 steps are a very good mini-version of the process of applying the LoA. Hope you'll like them too:)
