Yesterday I read this entire thread on becoming your desire: http://www.powerlawofattraction.com/forum/how-to-use-law-of-attraction-12/become-your-desire-)/
It looks like people are having a lot of success with the I AM affirmations. I've heard of those before, but never really tried them. Inspired by all of the wonderful studies, I took a pen in hand and began writing down my desires... and quickly became frustrated. The problem is that I'm basically looking for a total life makeover. I have desires that have to do with money, career, love, health, etc., and I consider many of them to be of equal priority. I felt that if I tried to use all of them, I would be scattering my energy. But I didn't want to leave anything out, either.
Oh yeah, there's also the Switchwords I wanted to start using. And my gratitude journal... and suddenly it all felt like too much. Manifesting only works if our vibration matches the vibration of our desire. Well, I don't think frustration is a good vibration from which to manifest.
What could be the solution to all of this? I think it might be boiling down all of our desires to their essences and the essence of those essence until we're left with just one thing that, if manifested, will make everything fall to place. The essence of essences, you might say. HAPPINESS. Some people might argue that it's love, and that will also work here. The point is that if you keep digging deeper and deeper, we basically all just want to be happy.
I've heard of this idea before. Authors/motivational speakers like Mike Dooley have been writing about it, and it's even been mentioned on this forum recently.
My issue with this idea was that I just don't trust the Universe to bring me what I want. But that's just silly, isn't it? If I'm asking for happiness, then surely I will get things that make me happy. Therefore, I am now surrendering to the Universe and trusting that it will do whatever is necessary in every area of my life so that I will be happy.
And I'm inviting anyone who's interested to try this with me.
Here's a basic outline of the requirements for the experiment (which you may alter to fit your beliefs and purposes):
1. State your intention to be happy with an affirmation (I AM happy) or afformation (Why am I so happy?)
This needn't be the only affirmation you use, but it might just be the only one you need.
2. Attune yourself to things that make you happy.
There are many ways to do this. You can devote time each day to doing things you love, practice attention to the most awesome thing in your environment at any given moment, keep a journal where you list the best things that happened to you each day, etc., etc. This will raise your your vibrations while giving the Universe hints as to what kinds of things, people, and/or experiences make you happy.
3. Pay attention! Notice the signs, follow your hunches, and take advantage of any opportunities that come your way. This is how the Universe works with you.
And that's it.
