taking drugs and LOA
« on: June 03, 2011, 07:43:45 AM »
hi...I have an old friend who I have been catching up with recently. she has been trying hard to use LOA and change her life to a more positive place BUT she is struggling with pain pill addiction. She knows she needs to stop, she started them for an injury a couple years ago but then found the high too nice to stop. she has 6 kids and says it is a brain escape. she stopped for a bit and went to pot but found that high too intense so she is back to the oxycontin. she says she can see glimmers of how LOA does work and she wants it in her life and wants to be off these drugs but I wonder, will LOA even work for her if she is continuing to take the drugs? I sort of feel one may cancel the other out. I have no idea what to advise her. I mean if anyone here has any idea about it and success stories of LOA working despite drug addiction, I would like to hear it. but my intuitiion tells me she is counterproductive. when i tried to tell her this she got depressed and said she agrees but is so in need of the escape the drugs give her from her screaming kids and her sad life, that she cannot stop taking them. :( i just want to help.
is LOA not going to work so long as she keeps "escaping"?

oh and a big part of the problem i think is how she beats herself up every day for doing what she knows is wrong! she complains to me about how awful she feels about herself and told me the whole time she is high her thoughts are bad about herself. so that has got to be counterproductive to LOA!

This is just my opinion but from my experience and from reading, it is much easier to use the laws when the body and mind are pretty clean.   Perhaps if you use Ho'oponopono and teach her Ho'oponopono you both may bring her life into a better situation.   I have a friend who was on a lot of drugs including oxycontin because of an injury and she went cold turkey to quit.   She and I had a long talk a few days ago and she told me how sick she got before she got better when she quit.   Fortunately she had a friend who took her to the hospital at one point for an infusion as she was dehydrated from being sick during the discontinuation of the drugs all at once.

Send her a lot of love.

Hello

I agree with VC. But I also think your friend would do much better with some medical help as well. Ask her to talk to a doctor about her addiction and find ways to come out of it. Even getting a counselling helps. If your friend feels offended about being counseled explain to her that it is not a shame at all. It actually shows that she's responsible and intelligent enough to recognize her problem and seek help for betterment. Getting counseling is a common thing in today's world, and I personally feel its a boon which helps many to lead better lives. It is no longer a taboo. Very importantly getting counseled doesnt mean you're mad. It means your problem can be just treated with talk and discussions for the most part.

VC is right that your friend can create her life well only when she has clear mind. Counseling helps her achieve that state. The Counselor can teach her some meditation or mind control techniques that help her to get rid of addiction and self-hatred. Being a psychology student and having assisted in many counseling sessions, this is my humble opinion. Rest assured, LOA is always working well for your friend. My prayers and love are with her. God bless :) :)

Everyone offered good advice here. Your friend needs to accept, forgive, respect and love herself first before LOA will work at its best for her.

  • Laughoutloudx3: Calm- that happens in all of my dreams & is a great mystery to me!! And that only happens with him!! Every now & then he will look like him...but some other times he will look nothing like himself, and even more bizarre is that most of the time he looks like a previous ex of mine, but yet it still really is him!! That drives me mad bc I do not know why his face appears as this other ex that I do not care about in that way. I always always know it is my guy though. I just wish he would look like him lol!!!!

  • LifeIsGoodToday: That wasn't the reason for my break though, there was a particular troll, HQ, that come coming back and just really giving the whole forum grief and negativity. It started to affect me. So I moved away for awhile. And honestly, I got so into work and her. I still lurked some, not often. But I think I should have b/c supporting others in a great way to grow in using LoA positively in your life!

  • Calm: Life - sometimes it's good to take a break.  Spending too much time here in a certain state of mind, can make one dwell too much on what one doesn't have, to my mind.  Breaks are good!
