So many of us feel guilty or disprove of ourselves for doing things we enjoy. Granted…we may enjoy doing some things that may not necessarily be good or healthy for us – but we’ll get into that in a moment.
You see when you’re having these negative feelings about what you’re doing – those feelings reduce the enjoyment you get from doing that activity AND…if it’s something you’d like to stop…those negative feelings actually keep it stuck there.
Alternatively, if you accept it as is…even just for now, you create a spaciousness or ease around the activity. That allows you more freedom to enjoy the activity and change if it you so desire.
Take a moment to think back to your actual life experience. How many times have you wanted to change some habit…but every time you did it you’d feel bad? I’m guessing that’s happened to you before.
Now, did that ever work?
Interesting…isn’t it. We’ve convinced ourselves that if we disapprove of ourselves enough…we’ll eventually change. But that’s just not the reality of the situation. It hardly ever works. And if it does work, it’s definitely not going to be enjoyable to implement that change.
Instead, what I suggest is using a tool like EFT to allow yourself to let go of that disapproval…let go of that guilty feeling…and to accept it as is. Honestly, allow yourself to be OK with doing that thing or activity.
If you’re not familiar with EFT yet…here’s a quick tutorial for EFT
