All,
I've just been reading something a mentor of mine wrote about goal setting. In the past I've come from the SMART criteria of goal setting.
He mentioned some points that I'm confused about or go in the face of what I know. I can't deny his credentials. Maybe he is "above" my other coaches that I've had in terms of success and clients.
I'm use to a goal being stated in the present tense.
So I'd normally write It is now 30th Dec 2010, I am or I have....
Yet all his were written as follows:
I will earn.....by 30th Dec 2010. Will doesn't mean I am or at least in my head. Will is in the future. By this method you have to include a deadline. The word by is crucial as it means it can happen sooner.
In addition. I'm thinking of my income goal.
Originally I was thinking and writing. I now easily earn $XXX a day or more, every day (from my websites).
So I'm now thinking I will easily earn $XXX or more this year, 2010 (from my websites).
Yet a goal has to be easily measurable. Currently on my vision board, I've several images all indicating how I will know I'm achieving my results. They are images of Clickbank and Paypal income statements and screens. I've done it this way and not an image of my bank account because, I was after a daily amount, not a yearly total. Seeing the daily amount is a real motivator for me. (ah...do I hear a story here? - i.e. daily amount means it's working and I can carry on what I'm doing, I don't have to return to an office and work for somebody else).
Yes, I understand that there are many ways for me to earn $XXX in a year. Yet, I'm focusing on building my on-line businesses as just one of my income streams, therefore, I'm see that as my end result, hence why I've added (my websites) at the end.
Any advice? How do you write your goals?
Thanks
