detachment?

hey! so i'm having a bit of an issue wrapping my head around the whole 'detachment' step in manifesting things in my life.
If something is SO important to you, and you want to get something back so badly (in this case an ex) how can you detach yourself from it?
And also, what exactly does it mean to detach yourself, is it to not care about the outcome? or to stop consiously seeking it?
How can i think in my head as if something has already happened to me, yet be detached from it?

Detachment means not worrying!! you send your request to the universe and then do your daily job and don't think about your desire with desperation and when you think about it you are happy.and you are not sad because you don't have it yet.cause you know that it is on it's way to you.this is detachment(letting go)...most people in the process of attracting an ex back can not be detached completely.cause they love that person and want to be with them as soon as possible.so,they become more attached to the outcome and they notice to not having their love by their side and because energy flows where your attention is,so you will attract more waiting and more desperation and it leads to more waiting and more attachment....because of this attracting an ex back become more difficult than attracting a general soul mate or other stuffs....so detachment means letting go of your desperation and knowing and having faith that it is yours...
it is like ordering food in a restaurant.when you order your favorite food from menu,what do you do before your food be ready?you talk to your friend,you laugh,talk about stuffs that make you happy with your friends,or may be you talk about your favorite food and how much you like it's taste...Ok?do you check that your food is ready?do you doubt that may be it will not be ready?absolutely not and this is the meaning of detachment and letting go.

What I've seen that really deatching is having fun with your friends or listening to music. ANYTHING that makes you happy will help you get closer to your goal.

Think about it this way: Not concentrating on your desire will bring it closer to you, so do everything else you enjoy while your manisfestation comes

3) While wishing - Never specify "How it should manifest" - Let the universe take care of it.

I'm actually on vacation right now in hawaii and really enjoying myself and thinking of other things and having fun instead of obsessing over this boy all the time like i do at home, so hopefully it helpss me get closer to my goal!
I'll let you guys know if i have any successes
