Challenge the law of attraction?
« on: April 14, 2012, 05:21:03 PM »
Hey guys,

I would like to get your thoughts with regarding to how much in control we are of situations and how the LOA is affecting our lives.

Simple story:

I went to go feed a friend's dog (he's gone on vacation). I'm not afraid of dogs, never really had problems with them, and the particular dog has always been good to me. Well, I put food to one of his dishes and while he was eating I put some food in his second dish. When I slid his dish back to his dog house, he bit my thumb.

Key things:

1. Why would I attract a situation like that when I NEVER HAD the slightest fear for that particular dog? My belief system doesn't entail fearing dogs (and he's a big boy)

2. I know you might say be careful when feeding a dog (even putting food in a dish he isn't eating) but still if things aren't random and happen for a reason, what am I supposed to learn from this experience (don't even go near a DOGGGG??? :P) ? I see nothing beneficial from it.

I know this is kind of a simple example but I figured I'd share it because it can relate to other stories where people don't have doubts about things (such as their jobs, health, financial situation, romantic partner) yet something always happens out of the blue.

Firstly,I would like to thank you for starting this thread.  :)
Why would I attract a situation like that when I NEVER HAD the slightest fear - I have been thinking along the same lines for the past few days..

Secondly,I have no answer to your question but I have the same question in mind!
if things aren't random and happen for a reason - This is what the law of attraction says, right? That what we are, whatever situations we face are all a result of our own thoughts?
Well then, what about those who are victims of criminal cases? What about rape victims? I think it would be highly insensitive of someone to tell a rape victim- "Hey sorry for what happened..but you know what? You have been attracting this all along"  >:(
What about those young children who face child abuse? I mean..they're children! Why would they even think of such things?! And people who have terminal diseases? I have seen happy people..people who are mentally strong and very positive who died of cancer...now inspite of being positive, why would they attract such a disease?

I'm really looking forward to everyone else's replies and I'm going to follow this thread..These questions have been the greatest blocks in my mind..the greatest reason why I believe in the law 99% but not 100%

The Universe is constantly communicating with you.. what happens to and in your body is telling you what is happening with you.
In the book "The Body Is The Barometer of the Soul" the author lists all sorts of ailments and what they mean.
A bog bite symbolises that "you are not loving yourself and you have put up your defenses" It's not actually about dogs at all...
Where the bite is on your body tells you how you are not loving yourself..
Depends on where on the thumb you were bitten..
if you want to know more tell me if it was right or left hand. and wether it was on the tip, middle or base of your thumb.

Interesting reply Truelove. Didn't know that the universe can communicate like that. It's kinda hard to see and subtle to interpret. Flickering flame, the only answer I have seen is the concept of parallel realities. But I would assume that everyone would want to fabricate a pleasant individual reality. Ergo, that's why you and I are wondering why things like that happen.

You see nothing beneficial from it, but you should! I have no idea why it happend, but I do know that from every misfortune (or even fortune), there is a lesson to be learned. What do you know now that you didn't? Be careful even though you trust dogs. I've had dogs all my life and I always respect their space even though I know they're docile and won't bite me.

Actually I may have an idea why he bit you! He's maybe used to only his owner giving him food and he allows him to enter his personal space, but not "acquaintances" like you.

I don't know if it's the universe or not, but opportunities come and you should grab them and learn something from them, always!

Actually what MikeG wrote here seems accurate: Actually I may have an idea why he bit you! He's maybe used to only his owner giving him food and he allows him to enter his personal space, but not "acquaintances" like you.

That about sums it up in my opinion. Its not a coincidence just cause and effect. You entered this dogs personal space and he rejected it thats it. I dont think you attracted it nor it has some hidden meaning in my opinion. Nothing to be learned here except maybe pay more attention to animals sensitivities and learn to read their body language.

I believe in the LOA and am grateful for being more conscious of it now and learning how to use it in my life but I dont think every single thing that ever happens to someone no matter what is because something in them attracted it. Im sure some will disagree with me based on the specifics of their beliefs but there are little innocent babies for crying out loud being molested and im sure they didnt attract it. I think those types of extreme beliefs are hogwash. With everything I learn about, I take what is useful to me and what I believe and leave the rest cause alot of things can get to an extreme level borderlining on hogwash. I was raised christian and even with that, I didnt buy everything that was taught to me in church. I did and still believe in the teachings of Jesus but many other things I questioned.

I do believe like attracts like and thoughts become things cause ive seen it many times throughout my own life but I also think certain things that may happen to someone can also be fate and was determined maybe before that person was even born. Who knows, I dont think we will find out the whys to everything until we leave our physical bodies and constraints of this world and meet our maker(cause I absolutely believe in God or whatever name you choose to give to him, I believe in that higher power) and im comfortable not knowing everything and simply using what I do know to the benefit of my own life.

MikeG, your response seems indeed accurate and makes sense. What we are trying to establish here is whether EVERYTHING that happens in life is random or not. Cause and effect....

In other words why do some things seem to be random and meaningless (small things) whereas big things in life seem to be premeditated... Perhaps from a previous life? I just thought of this incident today to address these thoughts. Eightieschick, I do believe in a higher power, but why do certain things have to happen a certain way and not another? Why are people suffering from things they dont want? I do believe in the LOA but I dont think we all have the recipe to utilize it to its full potential.

Nonetheless, interesting thoughts everyone!

andreasValerius, Thats also a very likely factor that we dont have the recipe to utilize the law to its full potential but I definitely believe some things are pre determined and alot of innocent people especially babies and children who have something crazy happen to them has nothing to do with them having something in their subconscious or a belief system thats attracting molestation, a freak accident, illness, untimely deaths etc or any of these unfortunate scenarios that cant be explained at least not explained while we are still in these physical bodies and apart of this world.

I feel the need to throw this in, just to shed some light on how the Universe is comunicating with us..

So andreasValerius explained to me where on his thumb he was bitten.. the expalination was he had to learn to be more flexible in certain areas of his life, his response to that was.. "yeah, people tell me that all the time... "

So this is just another way the Universe is telling him to be flexible... but even more dramaticly, so he will take notice.

If the explaination was completely off the mark I also would say.. "this is hogwash", but from my experince of this particular area it rarely is off the mark.. just needed to share that.. Because there is a whole world of information that is accessible to us if we are open to it!  :) :) :)

AndreasValerius excuse me for sharing this info but I felt compelled to share our conclusions. I hope you don't mind. :)

Truelove that's fascinating stuff! I hope you don't mind me asking, but what does it mean if someone has a stuffy/runny nose that just won't go away?  I bet it's relationship related...:P

Anyway, I've noticed that when my body starts acting up, that's usually a sign of something in my life that isn't quite right, but most of the time I have no clue what that is.  I remember a few years back when I was in school I had the worst neck pains and it took forever for me to realize that it was connected to what I was studying at the time.  ::)

lol

Well it was an advertising school, so there wasn't ever really any studying to do. Just a lot of um...bs-ing, which I'm awful at. The whole thing was such a bad fit and I didn't realize that was why I was tensing up every time I drove to school. I thought it was the traffic that was stressing me.  ::)

I have several books on what ailments mean in the body, I am checking a couple of them...

The first one explains that the nose means "Looking for love and attention. Not listening to you intuition. Feeling unnoticed, invisible. unimportant and unworthy."

My other book specifically writes of runny noses and says, "Asking for help, inner crying"
The affirmation for this is- "I love and comfort myself in ways that are pleasing to me"

I hope this makes sense.. With all these things I always say only take it on board if it rings true for you otherwise discard it. :)

Hm...I can kind of see the looking for love and attention part fitting.  :P
I also just did a google search that said a blocked nose means you're not having fun in life, which is also sort of true.

Anyway, thanks!  This is really fascinating stuff. I'm going to try and find a copy of that book.

When iam stressed......and somebody happens to ask me a general question , like "where is the bus stop"......I answer in a rude way (it sounds so, I dont intend to).
Also if iam worried I tend to bump in to things and furniture and hurt my self (read many times a day :D lol). I take this as an indication from inverse to regain focus, relax and concentrate on one thing at a time.
