A Portable Gratitude List
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:39:18 AM »
As you may or may not know, we more quickly manifest our desires when we have that "Attitude of Gratitude". It can be impossible, however, to always find time to write a gratitude list when you are not at home. What I have done is create a portable gratitude list. I use it when I am riding on buses, trains and planes, waiting in airports or waiting rooms, or find myself in any situation where I have time on my hands and my mind can wander....into negative thoughts.

It takes a little bit if preparation. All these intructions have a purpose so I suggest you do not change them.

  • First, on the computer, make a double-lined, 2 column/5 row table. You may be adding rows later. Set it to Times New Roman font size 16. Then write each thing on your gratitude list in each box. I start each one with "I am so happy and grateful now that...". Use no more than 5 lines for each one. Edit and re-word if you have gotten so wordy is it six lines.  If it is shorter, make sure that you still leave a blank fifth line so that ALL the boxes are the same size. The boxes will go onto a new page if you have several. You may have 1,2, or 3 pages.
  • Second, when you are done, recheck them all carefully for spelling and be sure they say what you want them to say. Be sure they are phrased. Be sure they are all using only and exactly 5 lines.
  • Third, save and print.
  • Fourth, laminate the sheets. Go to a printer if you need to, and ask them to laminate them for you. It only takes a few minutes. I happen to have a laminator at home.
  • Fifth, after laminating them, cut them into the same size boxes. Now you have your portable gratitude list!

I keep a thick rubber band around mine and they are in the bottom of my purse. They also fit into my pants pocket and my coat pocket. You could print sets so that you have one in your coat, your purse, your briefcase, your daykeeper etc. While others are worrying about where they are going and what will happen when they get there or why something is not moving or are driving themselves crazy with negative thoughts about someone or something, I am going through my gratitude list, reading each one carefully aloud in my head and often aloud in a whisper. I read them repeatedly during the day and allow myself to feel the happiness and gratitude and visualize my desires.

I hope you can use this tip!

Just an FYI.....if you have somewhere that carries clear contact paper (you'll find it in the aisle where they put shelf lining paper) you can laminate with that yourself at home.  It works great!

  • LifeIsGoodToday: That wasn't the reason for my break though, there was a particular troll, HQ, that come coming back and just really giving the whole forum grief and negativity. It started to affect me. So I moved away for awhile. And honestly, I got so into work and her. I still lurked some, not often. But I think I should have b/c supporting others in a great way to grow in using LoA positively in your life!

  • Calm: Life - sometimes it's good to take a break.  Spending too much time here in a certain state of mind, can make one dwell too much on what one doesn't have, to my mind.  Breaks are good!
